Default fairly new to poker tournaments

What's up,i am a 21 year old male from louisiana..

been playing for about 3 maybe 4 months now everyday just about.
just got into these big online tournaments(6000 or less people).I been having problems making it big but i always seem to place in the 200's.

my tatic is just to sit back for the most part and double up whenever i can and feel is right to do so.What i am having problems with is escaping the bad beats..i cant seem to get around them.I play the nutts just about every hand and see flops for cheap,so what can i do to make it past the 200's and escape the bad beats if there is a way lol..

Let me know what i can do to up my game...and for the time i have been playing poker i seem to be doing better than most of my counter parts who have been playing for 6 7 years....so im just looking for a way to get better i guess...Also play at Harrahs Casino and have the same results....make it far then fall flat on my face to bad beats...someone please give me some advice..

The Bad Beats are a part of the game, sure we don't like it, but obviously if you say bad beat you were leading most of the way which means you are making the right calls. There really isn' t anything you can do about the bad beats. For a newbie to be doing so well you are definately doing the right things your luck just needs to improve or bet more aggressively for those chasers not to chase, start thinking about that!!!!

This is going to sound like a psychiatrist, but I don't know what "Bad Beat" means in your example. I need more detail on how the hand played out. Maybe you're letting too many people in preflop, maybe you're betting too much or too little post flop. Maybe other players are reraising saying "i've got trips" and you're ignoring the signs.

There are alot of beats people interpret as Bad, but are actually something else. Give us some more detail.

I had the same problem and found out that I lost patience after a couple hours and would put too many chips behind my good cards. Early I know good cards CAN be beat, so I'm more careful and the "bad beat" only takes 1/3 of my chips. But after a couple of hours the same play would take all my chips because I had lost my patience.

    Something to consider.

That's a bad beat. And that's poker. And there ain't a thing to be done about it.

She's a cruel and wonderful thing, this game.

No way man. That's philosophy that you're doing there. Clarifying concepts and all. If you get confused again just remember: psychiatry isn't real.

it's certainly debatable - but you could call this an impatient play. Let's look at scenario #2. preflop plays the same except you call the 4000. Then the same flop comes. The guy goes ai with and A on the board, or maybe he checks, you bet 4000 and he reraises ai. That A is a scarecard for you and you fold? Maybe, he's scared by the A and you bet the 4000 and he decides it isn't worth it to chase the flush

You lose 4000-8000 instead of your whole stack or you pick up the pot post flop without resistance. He didn't have an Ace and he made a rediculous preflop move, there are alot of ways the hand could have played post flop, but you never had the chance.

This is very similar to how I would blow out due to impatience. Good cards, overbetting preflop. Like I said, it's debatable, but not totally invalid.

You have to understand that the chances of making final table in a MTT are low, unless you are exceptional. In the 200s in a 6000 person tournament is ITM right? You will always get bad beats in MTTs since there are so many others in the game. And the chances of a bad beat are particularly high in freerolls when people will play anything to the river. You might want to try some SnGs too since you can learn the qualities needed for MTTs: patience, reading players and aggression/stealing at the right times with more reward in SnGs than MTTs, at least initially when you are still learning the game.
