    Default about no limit tourneys

I was playing at a quarter million qualifier at party yesterday. 300 people i finished 20th (slots went to top 11 and some money to the next 3).
I just have some questions on some hand and some general questions cause I am pretty new at NL ( I only play sit N gos and some tournaments, not cash).

I was playing pretty well. I put some good reads on some people and doubled up 3-4 time pretty safe, usually on the flop. Also one time I was holding pocket 3s and flopped quads.... but no one had a hand (flop was 233) just managed to induce a bluff from some guy but he folded my raise on the turn. Then I flop trip 7s with 5 people in the hand and a board of 7 5 9 with no preflop raising. It is checked around and the turn gives me quads. No one had a hand of this time either just one guy called and then folded the river.

So we are left 20 people, 2-3 shortstacks ( i am like 3rd with 18K and max stack is sth 25K sitting next to me.

I am playing pretty tight (REALLY tight actually) cause I dont wanna risk my cheap lead. (blinds are at 750-1500) but cant really wait that long cause other than the 2-3 shortstacks all the others are playing really tight too waiting for others to exit so they can get the slot.

So I am dealt QQ on the BB. guy next to me raises to 3K i re-raise to 6k and its heads up. flop comes ace rag rag. I bet 2/3 pot he calls. He calls another bet and then we check the river. He has KK. There goes my lead. How can I play these hands at these situation? Do I check when the ace comes? then he can bet me out of the hand. Do I re-raise all-in before the flop? any chance I know I am beat preflop with QQ?

So after that I am with about 7K and get pocket 6s on the blind again, It is folded around and button after thinking for like forever he pushes. Pretty good read on him not having overpair (for the last 20 hands all that has been going on was someone late position pushing and stealing the blinds all being too tight at this point) and pretty much tired after 4 hours I call, knowing I have a slight advantage VS just overcards. AK hits duo Ace.

I know that NL tourneys are all about doubling up with good odds, usually pre flop, but how often do u make coinflip calls?

Any feedback on NL tourneys would be welcome.

ya I would of checked the turn after he called the flop. I cant blame you for calling that push with 66 I woulda done the same if I was shorstacked just gotta win that conflip.

Coinflips... I save them for the final table or when I am shortstacked and need to double up Or if I am a huge stack and winning would take someone out while losing wouldn't hurt you.

Yeah I mean when min raise is 3K and u have 7 (damn bitch queens ) you cant really play like "raise...calll....bet 2/3 pot....fold" cause after the bet on the flop you are all-in. You have to go all in at the fist decent hand you have. Each round costs 4.5K at this point. If I folded that I would most likely have gone all in with the next A or K I was dealt, probably with worse odds. Coinflip is the best you can get at these situations. But generally what do you think about pushing pre flop. I like pushing on the flop better. "classic" scenario: I hold mid pockets and call a raise from sby I put on AK AQ KQ, then of the flop is rags. Go all-in on his auto bet on the flop. Sure I've been up against AA KK QQ once or twice but generally it pays off. Read is important.

Preflop is easy at the beggining of the tourney cause its amazing what will people push with, so I usually go all in with hands that are huge favorites.

AK vs AJ-A10-KQ stuff like that.

Problem with last tourney was I was getting too much respect. 5 previous pocket pair I hand (KK,QQ, JJ) I re-raised a raise of 1000 to 2000 and the guy always folded... same guy 3 times actually.

    Anyway back to battle.

Given this and the guy calling your raise on the flop of that first hand, I'd definitely have checked the turn. Honestly, unless he was fairly sure you were bluffing, I think it was a mistake for KK to call your raise, but any hand that justifiably called there beat you. Not letting go of QQ can turn it from the huge money maker it can be to a sinkhole.

Note: That being said, I did the same thing today in a ring game...with the same results you had. I too should have checked after the flop.
