    Default Overplay of AQ TPTK?

I'm in the BB at a 5$ SNG and pick up AQs. 5 limpers to me, blinds 25/50, and I make it 200 to go. This culls the field to one player who has made two stunningly ridiculous calls in the last 10 hands. First, he called an allin raise for his whole stack with QJo and got lucky, winning the hand. Second, he reraised someone alling with the J high flush draw (j3 spades after big preflop raise) and missed. So the flop comes 39Q with two to the flush (not my suit). I bet 400 (almost the pot) and he minraises me. He has me stacked. I push....

i think with the information you have on him, this is a good move. Thats one of the best flops you can get with AQ.

Doesn't it suck when you have a guy dominated and they suck out huge like that?

You can't let some idiot with a Q9 bother you. You played it right.

Edit...re-reading the post perhaps he had the flush draw and hit....oh well. Care to finish off the story?

I was completely shocked when he turned over KK. I didn't hit any of my 5 outs and that was that. So, call allin with JQo, push allin with J high flush draw, and limp/smooth call a preflop raise with the 2nd best pocket holding.

Sounds like this guy has absolutely no concept of how to play NL hold 'em. These guys are great to play with long term, but can crush you in an instant when the stars just happen to line up in their favor and have you beat.

However, I too may have slow played KK over to your BB. Depends on how aggressive other players have been with preflop raises. Why not try and bait someone if there is 4 or 5 callers to come. Obviously, poker being a game of utmost detail, there is a lot to consider when making a move like that.

Suppose that this guy rasied to your BB, could you really have played the hand any differently? Especially after witnessing his play? What can you put him on? This guy is the type of player I fear most. Someone who lets the cards determine the winner, as opposed to the best gamer.

That's the thing.... I could give him credit for an accidentally nice play, but he was on the cutoff and I had played all of two hands and the button was a classic loose/passive. So basically this guy wanted to beat 6 hands postflop with his kings, probably slowplaying to the river until someone showed strength. I put him on a wide range -- anywhere from J3 - KQ or possibly 2 pair. I just really thought he'd reraise with premium holdings. If he had, I probably would've been screwed anyway given his previous play, you might be right about that. But I don't by any means love AQ preflop, so I'd like to think I could've laid it down.

LOL, STBU. That happens all the time and it was a good play based on you observations.

Same thing happend to me once in a big buy-in SNG.

Loose Larry was making all kinds of crazy plays and put out a few players with all kind of wild bluffs and suckouts.

Blinds were getting very high and I pick up K10. Flop comes 10 high and I push, any raise would have committed me to the pot. He showed AA and I go bye bye on the bubble. It's just the way it goes and I would make the same play against him again under the same conditions.
