Default How would you play this?

I'm one from the button, midway through MTT on Pacific. Blinds up to 50/100 on next hand, I have 750 chips. Average is 1500.

Dealt 69o. It's folded to me so I bet 150 (3BB) to try and take the blinds. Table leader in SB (3900) raises to 250, BB calls.

What would you do now. As I had 150 already in I called. Looking back I reckon I should push or fold? Comments?

Flop: 6 9 J all of same suit (doh!)

Anyway, checked to me by both, pot is bigger than my stack so I push. I feared the flush but thought I'd represent it, having 2 pair anyway. Chip leader called. Comments?

Turn was another J, river was K (neither the same suit as flop)

Chip leader turned over QQ. Board pairing on turn knocked me out. How could I improve the way I played this?

    Cheers.

fold preflop. blinds are too small to steal.

by the way, one bb = 100 (the big bet), not the big blind

Stealing from the button isn't a horrible play... but I probably fold when it's pushed back at me. 600 chips is enough to stay alive with, particularly on the button, when you've got several free looks coming.

Once that flop hits... flush draws be damned... I'm all in. You've got just enough to really wreck his pot odds if he has the flush draw.

In summary, Fold Preflop, push post flop.

In summary, Fold Preflop (on re raise), push post flop.

So pre flop he raised TO 250 (not a raise of 250)? You had to call 100 there and there was 650 in the pot. I think I'd call that looking to flop big. You did, but he got lucky on the turn.

Correct, I had 150 already staked and had to put another 100 in...total 250.

    Consider your call this way:

Blinds are 25/50?. Folded to you so pot is at 75.

You raise to 150 (pot 225)

SB raises to 250 (pot 400)

    BB calls (pot 650)

You have to put in another hundred for a chance to win 650. 6.5:1 on your money is enough to call with almost any 2 cards higher than the cut card, and considering your chip position I might have pushed into the reraise preflop. JJ would almost certainly have called you anyway, but I believe that would have been your best chance to get him to fold out.

But then again, I'm a fish...

I don't think 6.5 to one is good enough with two calls, you're probably dominated by a pair plus in against a couple other over cards.

2pair? checked to you? Huge pot? Any raise you make gets you committed, and you pushed a big favorite here. You played it well. Folding here shows your bluff.
