    Default call this?

    Ok,

I don't have the exact hand history, but this is 99.9% accurate....

    $1 MTT
First hand of level 3 blinds (25/50)
    I am in the SB w/ 44
4 callers, I complete, BB checks, 6 for the flop!
    Flop comes 4d Jd 8h
    I lead out and bet 150 (half-pot)
4 folds, last guy (with more chips than I have) raises AI
I have c. 1800 (after posting and betting), he has moved AI for 3k ish

    It's on me ....

    I call very happily.
Dont think he limped with JJ, maybe with 88, but if thats the case, well ur just unlucky =).
    Probably hit two pair.
    CALL CALL CALL CALL!!!!!!!

Let me guess, did he turn over 88?

Are you really considering folding a set here? That's weak. Call all day. Could be AJ, two pair, random flush draw/semi-bluff, even lower pocket pairs trying to grab some dead money. If you lost to 88 or JJ that's just bad luck.

Well, I called, figuring that too many people move-in in this situation with two diamonds and, sure enough, he flips JJ.

I just wanted to make sure that it was just a case of "if u don't lose it all here, u played it wrong". I did contemplate laying it down on the grounds that I hadn't REALLY committed THAT many chips, but I don’t think I would have forgiven myself if I did lay it down to someone on a draw

Thats just unluckiness, and yes, If you dont lose your chips, your most likely playing it wrong. Just imagine that you had called, and you built up ur stack and won the tourney. Itll make you feel better.

If I have a set and you have a bigger set I'm paying it off every time and never having a second thought about it. Pretty much the same for AA vs KK pre-flop.

edit: With 400+BB stacks I would *consider* laying down bottom set in an unrasied pot.

Maybe in the WSOP, an hour in, you lay it down (not me tho).

    Call.

Why does the fact that its on WSOP change anything?

No, WSOP, call instantly, show people you're not to be fucked with

My point was just that I could understand the impulse if you've plunked down 10K buyin plus air fair, hotel, etc., that you'd want to pick a better spot to go broke in. As I said, I'd still call. But early in a 1$ MTT this is a no brainer.

people don't go AI on the wsop, you would still call down their bets
