You'd think a set would re raise here, so really you're worried about Q10 only, I think I'm calling here. Tons of pair plus draw type hands or A rag hearts that could make this play. Seems weird he would be OK slow playing the str8/set on the flop but then decide to shut you out on the turn.

Raise is better. Unraised pot with few limpers and he's on the button? He very likely has the best hand - raise it up right there and take it down, or isolate on one player going to the flop.

Well that's true, but i don't like playing KJ and other 'almost good' hands. I play either g00t hands or raghands.

KJ like this gets u in trouble and they usually puts you in a situation where it's hard to fold.

I'd raise it otb & I usually don't mind letting go to such a blatant overbet, you are only in for $3 - but it does look to me like he bought it with a gutsy play. He may have been slower to do it if you had raised pf.

whoever has a hand that beats you does NOT make this play. Set does not make this play. He either would raise you less on the turn, or else he would have raised you on the flop.

Thanks guys, i find overbets like this pretty rare and figured he probably didn't have the goods but for some reason i didn't feel like paying $25 to find out, weak play i guess. Some players may play a straight or a set like this to give the appearance of a bluff which i then call but i think that is giving too much respect to my opponent.

It's a very playable hand, one that I've won a lot of money on. It easily takes down flops that hit it, and if u get a lot of resistance then it's an easy fold. not very hard to let go in my opinion.


Raise it preflop, call the all in for sure. Even if you do run into a set I doubt this will be the case most of the time. People try and juice sets more than just take down small pots with an AI. He probably hit 2 pair also.

raise it preflop, bet the pot on the flop, respect any reasonable bets/raises. just the odds of being up against a better king or jack are low enough i don't worry unless someone raises me.

without you raising preflop and playing somewhat weak on the flop and turn, he might feel like he can push you out of this hand with some kind of a semi bluff. weak 2 pair or a straight draw or flush draw.

A set would probably re-raise your flop bet thinking you might have a pair and will call his raise. A straight would not push on the turn with a card like that (unless he thinks your on a flush draw and is super paranoid like me)
