Default Defending against sets with an overpair

It is hard to lay down an overpair. Some think that it is rare enough for your overpair to run into a set that it is worth paying off because of the likelyhood that your opponent is simply overvaluing top pair. So, assuming your opponents are playing for sets, how do you make it incorrect for them to call you preflop?

Fnord wrote a thread here that says if you can see the flop for less than 10% of your stack (when the opponent has at least your stack size), than it is correct to call a raise with a small pair for set value. Does this mean if you get dealt AA, you should raise more than 10% of the average stack? Suppose it is the first hand of a SNG, everyone has 1500 chips and you get AA on the button. If you raise to 175, it would be incorrect for them to call with a pair. Is this playing too scared, or do you think this would be more profitable against players that do play for set value?

    all thoughts appreciated..

Hmm, head scratcher. While this creates a chance for your opps to make a mistake, I think it removes the chance for your opps to make a more common mistake, calling 3-5x raise early with garbage hoping for the magic flop. Q10 may call 4x and then go broke after hitting top pair, but may fold for 8x.

But then I hate AA/KK early in SNGs, maybe over raise is the way to go, you figure the only calling hands you have dominated.

I like raising it 4-6x depending on my mood :\

oh and I think you are over thinking. the average player doesnt think like this I dont believe. The only time that you would bet according to someones stack size is when you and them are heads up. First hand I think this who point is null...
