Yeah that river check gave away your hand I think. Because he saw that you were afraid of the flush that just hit the board, so he used that against you.

And that's kinda small pre-flop raise. But still good enough, I assume.

I'm not sure whehter I had a choice or not. I think this is just a good example of how important position is... I think the correct move was a fold, but I would like to hear some more opinions.

I think you should have made a blocking bet on the river the same as, or slightly more than, your turn bet. If he has the flush, he'll come in over the top and you'll fold -- paying him off another $6. However, if he doesn't, he'll probably either call or fold, as ripping allin after someone who's been aggressive the whole hand is much harder than doing it when you get a scared check after a scare card hits. What's worse? Tossing another $6 into the pot or losing $36 (or $18 in this case)? You only have to be right/stop the allin from a worse hand 1/6 times for this to be correct.

If I toss in 6 on the river. thats semi-weakness, and if he has a hand he will come over the top and i will be required to call with a pot that large. however in this case that would of been good. in most cases i think i would be beat because people on pp are flush scared. the only reason he bet like this is becasue he told me he didn't even know a flush was out there.

Semi-weakness isn't as weak as checking. That's the definition of a blocking bet. A lot of people will make reasonable bets on the river even with a monster to extract value. The only way a check would be right here is if you were more than 5/6 certain he was on a flush draw or you knew this particular person expected you to pull a Johnny Chan and check-raise the river when it hits you.
