I had no read on him and so early in the SnG I didn't want to take a coinflip. AK is not even a favorite against pocket deuces.
With AK I want to win it right there or at least see a flop and make a play there .. when there are only 3-5 players left and people start to play more hands I would maybe go all-in preflop.

What do you think? Pussy play or good laydown?

With no read - correct play. In fact it could turn out to be a gr8 play. This is where I wish the online sites allowed you to show what you are folding. If you showed your big slick here, other players would think you are a push over and you would be able to rape them later on in the toruney when you would call or raise all-in with this hand against a hand like AT or Ax suited.

The play depends on the buyin. At the $5 sngs people will make that play with AQ and sometimes less.

I agree w/ the laydown as well. But I would not bet A/K early so strong....too many fish lurking around that will call and if you get no help on the flop....now what!? If one of these caller caught any part of the flop, they will probaby call any bet you throw out there.

I would bump up A/K maybe 2-2.5 the BB. It shows some strength preflop but I am not losing much if I have to lay it down. A/K get stronger much later in a tournament.

Gabe is right, you might even be ahead but why get in a race so early.
