No, not much of a way to prevent that loss. I think you tilted yourself out with the AK though, they reraised you preflop, I'm thinking they have a pair there and your hand doesn't improve.

I've never seen an entire SnG (except for the first hand) belong in the bad beat section.
  3. #3
yea well, the a/k at the end, i shoulda just oushed preflop, but that was me trying not to tilt, then the guy bragging about the k/k and a/a hand...got me all mad and i just said whatever...

Default Re: Anyway To Avoid This Loss?

    Two points:

Going all in with a set of Js seems a little too sudden
for me. I would have raised significantly. But with a straight and
flush draw showing (which you actually got called on) I would have
held on to at least some chips. This is a tournament and it getting
that last 300 chips will not make or break you. The fact that
you eliminated 2 plr was nice, though.

You have some nice hands in between. Pretty much on point.

In your final hand, you have to assume your opponent has a
strong pair: PFR followed by calling into a weak board. He is the
big stack so a bluff was very risky. Experience will teach you to
fold these hands (its very hard, I am just starting to learn myself).

What is going on in the chat box?? You should chill....you sound 'tilty' and you could make enemies at the table which will only cause then to go after you.

Gotta stop whining through chat. It's actually a leak (took me a while to figure that out myself). If you need to whine, come here and write about it on the bad beat thread (although a lot of the players here will also advise against ranting in general). Otherwise either say nh or don't say anything at all. In the longrun it does NOT pay to tell everyone at the table xxx is a donk. All you are going to do is clue everyone else in the table in, or clue the donk in - it doesn't do you any good.
  7. #7
i know all of this...and i dont rant too much...but it was the fact he was bragging...about the k/k and a/a...other then that im not really yelling or whining...im just calmly sitting at my computer typing this...im not like saying this out loud in person...

Do you seriously believe you made some mistake?

This is the nature of poker, play right and be punished for it. Play incorrectly and be rewarded.

It's even worse that you are typing this. If it was live, other people could see that you were basically saying - dumb play but oh well that's poker. Online your "he had no right calling for all his chips with k/10 suited" screams . I woulda needled you too. Perfect opportunity to have the table think I'm a numnut, put you on tilt ... I woulda done my best to try and get you to call me an idiot, a retard, whatever. I can't tell you how many times I have done this or see others do it and then next time you see me raise I'll have a hand and the / poker expert will put me all-in with something like A9. Granted, the fact that this guy actually WAS a retard does make it a little humorous.

Anyways, long story short - I no longer give lessons while playing (unless of course I specifically state that I am for the sole purpose of putting someone on tilt).
  11. #11
wow that table was loose as hell. theyre calling all-ins with gutshots and equally disastrous prayers. you punished them harshly for their calls and it sucks that it didnt work out the way it shouldve. id be willing to say that you win this tourney 8/10 times if they always play like this.

    Tournament from Hell, sorry Dude.

interesting chat conversation from a few nights ago:

    Tiltboy: atrocious call....
Atrocious Caller: Why? I had AJ, you had A9
Tiltboy: you called my huge all-in, dumb call..
    Atrocious Caller: Whatever
    Tiltboy: **** you
Atrocious Caller: hold on a sec
Atrocious Caller: still stacking your chips, lol
    Atrocious Caller: you were saying?

Chat rants only fuel the tilt fire. If you're prone to them, just always stay on No Chat. I know of a very successful ring and tourney player who was a perpetual whiner, probably the only leak in his game. He turned on No Chat and now appears regularly on PS's TLB.
Sharky: I've got good news and bad.
    me: what's the good?
Sharky: we all voted you Most Valuable Player!
    me: what's the bad?
Sharky: It was at our weekly poker game!
  13. #13
By the above, I meant that you have to let go of each hand's result immediately, other than any lessons about the other players at the table you may learn from that hand. Dwelling on past hands detracts from your concentration on the next hand.
