Default First try at 150+12 MTT....

I just found it neat to be in the same tourny as michael1123.

Tough run of cards to start, and a very aggressive table. Is this a common difference from the lower stakes MTTs (the aggressiveness, not the cards)? The 50+5 was far more passive than this.

Anyways, with blinds at 25/50, moving up to 50/100 in about 5 minutes, I had 990. I finally got a hand.... this is how It went.

Note: calzadillas seemed to be a fairly aggressive player

    PokerStars Game #1767820610: Tournament #8153089, Hold'em No Limit - Level III (25/50) - 2005/05/25 - 21:46:02 (ET)

What could he have here? 44? KQ? I have 490 left, so that would leave me with just under 10xBB, and 5xBB in 5-6 minutes. What do you do here?

you cant fold TPTK on that flop with only 490 chips left, especially against an aggressive player.

yeah you probably have him beat...gotta call this one...he is probably jsut being hyper aggressive with his bigger stack

Thanks guys... I thought I made the right move in calling, but had some nagging doubts. I figured maybe he could have KQ... with a slight chance at 44.

    DWDuck2: calls 490 and is all-in

i think the guy made a bad call preflop. the raise was 1/5 of your stack, and he only gets to bust you 1/8 times.

What about his ability to win the pot when both go unimproved?

I'd possibly consider shoving here preflop. There's like 150 already out there, and you just have 1k left. If you get called, you're probably in good shape too.

Post flop, there's no way you could ever get away from your hand with your stack. You were commited after flopping TPTK.

True, but I don't think he can count on the raiser's hand going unimproved. Half the time there will be a face card or two on the board - how does the guy with 44 know the raiser didn't hit? Any Q, K, or A, maybe even a jack, is dangerous. I don't think it significantly increases 44's expectation to try to outplay a raiser post-flop.

Lets give him a little credit in not being afraid of a J. And being able to tell if his opponent has paired up.

Besides, this discussion is about his abilities and we don't really know anything. So it's silly.

It was looking like a very possible heads up pot, and if it wasn't he then had implied odds on the other caller.

If the flop comes J72 or T65 or K63 (even though this one beats him), he'd take his chances (especially since there's a very good chance that DWDuck checks if he doesn't catch a pair).

The call is iffy, but not horrible.
