    Default bad beginner play?

This hand happened today and the player who lost was very upset and made it sound like my strategy was wrong in this situation....

    My thoughts:
    Pre-flop
From the table k8s is a decent starting hand. The mistake I believe I did make was by not raising pre-flop
    after flop

I figure player 5 either has a pair or Axs or better. I figure p5 doesn't have the straight. I figure i have at least 12 outs. I also figure on the off chance that i have 15 outs with the 8 being better than the board. I have between 25-30 percent chance here. I really bet against p5 with a pair and rather take a chance that he has Axs.

    after turn

I figure with Kings and flush draw that I am in a great position to call

I really feel like the only mistake I made was by not raising pre-flop. What do you all think? I've never made anyone that upset and want to make sure my logic isn't too far off.

I am not sure where you got the idea that K-8 suited was a good hand.

It isn't, especially in early position. It is a Group 7 hand. Fold it pre-flop. It is certainly not worth calling a powerful raise under ordinary conditions.

I would fold preflop. From EP K8s is a bad hand even for limping and not a hand to call a raise with. What your oponent said doesn't matter though. Many players on the net behave like idiots when they loose for what ever reason. Poker is really a gentleman sport, so they've got it very wrong I would say. Make an "idiot"-note on them and then ignore them. Take the advice you get on this forum, read the "theoy of poker" and post hand histories here for discussion. I promise you will learn something. Just don't forget to think for yourself as well

I think you started as p5 and ended up as p7?

    I wouldn't play K8s with 8 hands. I will play it with 6 hands
    from late position.

Don't get drawn into time wasting chats with idiots. As soon
as I see a distracting comment from anyone, I turn off the
    chat from that plr.

Playing K8s for that preflop raise is suicide generally speaking. You got lucky. BUT, you opponent badly misplayed his JJ. The preflop raise was fine for him but what was he waiting for after that flop? He needs to kick himself for not moving AI and pushing you off that draw. So you both played like idiots.

Default I'm the quasi drunk elephant in position 5

As I read your posts I can see the error of my ways.

The table was playing tight passive which I think makes my mistakes even worse. My thinking was that at most 3 hands were staying in to the flop. Knowing this, I assumed that k8s was a good hand against two others. P7's raise was as large as the previous three pots. By the time I was done playing with this hand grenade we managed to have a pot as large as our previous 7 hands, combined. I doubled my bankroll yesterday and was feeling pretty immortal going into this SnG. Guess you could say the force was on my side with hands like that.

Just another eroor no the night! I really wish Bodog had the nice copy and paste summaries of Empire and Ultimate.
