Default Solid read, or I just play too much :)

I tell ya, the players are easier and easier to read in tehse heads up tournies. They all try the same crap on the first hand and they all get pwned the same way. This may seem odd to many of you, but I was so sure that I had him beat. Until the river...Just a little.

    Default Curious.

Did you have a read on this guy or something? If i had hit the J on the flop how he played that hand would be exactly how I would have played it.
There is a better chance that he has nothing than he does have the J or 7, but I'd say its better to give the benefit of the doubt until you get deeper in, and have a more concise read on somebody.

I pride myself on being good heads up, and I find the most important factor is to semi-bluff w/ mid pair, and draws, and only call when you KNOW you have a better hand. If anything, with the way that hand played, if you knew he didn't hit anything on the flop, you should have re-raised, and taken the pot right there.

by just calling you are just allowing him opportunities to hit cards that could take down your Ace high.

Well yeah, this may sound weird, but just by looking at his avatar and talking to him before the tournament started I picked up that he was very prideful and overall arrogant. This allowed me to know that he would raise on a bluff and try to steal my chips. I wanted to extract as many chips from him as I could,as quite frankly, if I lose 5 dollars I lose. If I win, I win. I understand what you're saying about re-raising and taking the pot right there, but quite frankly, he has the same odds of beating my ace high that I have of beating his queen high. I'm willing to take a chance, as evidently it paid off. I go, on average, 8-10 wins to 0-1 losses on pokerstars SnG's. Funny enough, I tried the higher stakes, 10, and 20 heads up, and quite frankly, they're MUCH easier. Maybe it's because people dont push all in with 3 to a flush or a gutshot, but it's easier none-theless.

I'm not sure I understand.... Higher limits are much easier, but you're still playing 5$ SnGs? Why?

Second, they are easier because people don't push allin with worse hands at higher levels? Shouldn't this make them harder to beat?

Last, I don't understand how a snippet of chat and precisely no hands from which to get a read could lead you to call off more than half your chips with A high. I think you're playing at limits that are below what you take seriously, and you got lucky. The result of this particular hand doesn't make your play better. If you posted all the times you called down these "obvious bluffs", and could honestly say that your opponent never has, say, pocket 2s or something, then I'd give you some credit for ESP. As is, I really don't understand the point of this post.

I only play SnG's at pokerstars nothing else. Now....why am I doing 5 dollar heads ups? Because I just cashed out the majority of my bankroll and am in the process of rebuilding it. Maybe it's the fact that I've done numerous heads up SnG's, and all the aggressive players play the same way. What I wanna know is, why the animosity? Honestly, is there any need to come out this attacking manner? If you dont see the same read as I do, there's nothing to say. I play these habitually, you'd be amazed at the number of minor things people can do to give me a lead. 100% of the 1,050 I just cashed out is from 9 player SnG's, Heads up SnG's, and 4 player matches, so obviously im doing something right.

I don't dispute that you are a heads-up master, and I didn't really mean to be nasty. I guess my question is basically this: If someone seems cocky in pre-game chat (are there key words for more or less cockiness?), and bets out strong on the flop, turn and river of the first hand, and you have A high, are you almost always good? Why not reraise the flop to stop him from giving free cards? How often do you see this sort of play? How often are your reads wrong? Can you post multiple examples of this type of 1st hand bluff with you snapping it off? Would you call down with K high? How about if there was no pre-match chat and the guys name was completely innocuous (i.e. not cocky)?

Your post only seemed to say "look how awesome my read is in this heads up SnG". I contend that the passive calling down of big bets with no pair for half your chips on the first hand of a tourney is risky, and might be bad advice to those of us who aren't heads up masters. Convince me otherwise, or provide some rule or explanation of how you get these reads without seeing a hand.

Both of u chillax, this is over the itnernet, so im sure both of u are getting riled up over shit that you cant see. No facial expressions and tone of voice makes it easy to get into an argument.

if you dont like his play then you dontlike it. if he wants to keep doing it he can keep doing it.

If you like ur play then just keep doing it. Simple.

Dont get into a penis wagging match over the internet. Both of you will lose to me, im better at photoshop than u are.

Nothing to convince. Believe me if you want, dont if you dont want to. Not everyone can pickup on the same things. Some players pickup reads by how the player looks at their hands or sips their drink. Disagree if you must, I have nothing 2 prove. By the way, Vqchaung...I so pwn you @ photoshop! And once again, nice pics of your girl. Does she agree to these photo sessions or do you make her? heh
