    My comments/questions:

#6: Was my bet on the flop was too small? Or maybe I shouldn't bet at all because there were 5 players in the hand?

#47: Did I play this correct? There were 2 overcards to my pair...

#88: This was a tough one.. With AA or KK he would of course have reraised me. I didn't want to give him a free card, because if an A or K would come up, I would maybe have to fold to a strong raise. He of course thought my raise was a steal, and was so glad he cought top pair on the flop that he called.
  3. #3
#6 according to the other thread, with the overpair, bet the pot.

    #47 fold it preflop

#88 bet 3/4 to the pot on the flop. You really have no need to overbet it right htere. Hell you look like ur on a flush draw, if you were playing against me, I just might call with an AT if circumsatnces were right. If it was ur intention to make ur play look like a semi bluff, then, congrats, ur a pro.
  4. #4
I'm very inconsistent in my bet sizes, I really need to learn something about that. I've ordered HoH, I've read there's a chapter about bet sizes in it?

About #47: I often play Axo and hands like that in the SB because it's cheap to call, especially if there are a few limpers before me. Is that bad play?

    Thanks for your reply.
  5. #5
    Yes it is a leak.

    Thinking time!
3 limpers to you in the SB. You hold A6o. You call becuase its cheap.

What are u going to do when an Ace flops?
What happens when the flop comes QT6?

You will flop x66 or AAx about 1.35% of the time.
you will flop a full house 0.09% of hte time.

98% o fhte time you will be in a position where you have no clue what to do. 2% of hte time you have a monster. Your chips are better saved for later on in the tournamnet.

When the blinds are 5/10. If there are multiple limpers to me, I will compelte with any 2 cards. Those are odds im willing to take. Otherwise, forget it.

    Here’s my $0.02 ……

Hand 6 – Got to go with the others. You need to bet bigger here. You need to drive out those with overcards. You simply can’t get away with betting less than half the pot with a vulnerable hand like 77 here. Also, if I had bet 100 here, I would have fired again on the turn, find out where u stand for sure.

Hand 35 – No way am I checking behind here. You’ve raised PF and, in my opinion, been given licence to fire again when it’s checked to you. You would have found out quickly that he had the goods. Also, on that river, you just need to learn to let go.

Hand 47 – Yeah, I think u should have binned this pre-flop. But nicely played once u got involved.

Hand 72 – Don’t show. Make him pay to see what you had.

Hand 101 – Good (brave!) call. Did u have a feeling that he was pushing with two face cards?

I think he was the one who flopped the flush on hand 35. So it might have been correct to check the flop.

Becuase you made a preflop raise, and hte baord comes out monochromed, I would make a small bet in an attempt to seem weak. By doing so you might induce the other player to go over the top of u.

vqchuang: I know you're right, but I felt so frustrated when a few hands earlier I folded K9o in the SB, the flop came K99, and the other guys were betting like crazy . But I know it's not an excuse for playing weak hands... the percentages you posted speak for themselves

Staresy: About #35, I first checked quickly, then reluctantly called his bet on the turn, and was praying "no club on the river!". I tried to make him think I was on a flush draw, and I think it worked. What do you mean by learning to let go on that river?

About #72, I often show when I have a hand; that's how I got away with the raise on #47, and a few other hands like that. But it's better not to show? I liked the image I got from it, they often backed off when I raised.

About #101, I didn't know for sure, but I knew he would push with K high with his stack and these blinds (he had done it before). It was a relatively cheap call for me, and I had a chance to knock a player out, which is always nice

Thanks a lot for the advice!

#47: I dont hate the complete of the small blind. On the flop, with middle pair on that board Im more inclined to raise if I believe he is BS'ing me. I dont mind the call either. I prefer to make my mind up on the turn about various hands. What level of buyin are we talking about here.

It was a $5; I've only been playing for a few weeks.
About #47, my guess was he either had overcards or a small pair (4's or 7's); with Q's, his raise would have been bigger. He always betted strong if he really had a hand. When I see this hand now, I think I should have raised.

    Edit:
Now I come to think of it, I actually like it better this way because I was first to act. If I would have raised on the flop, and he would have called, I wouldn't know what to do on the turn because of the Q. This way however, if he would have called my turn raise, and the river wasn't an A or 7, it would have been an easy check/fold.
Is this way of thinking correct?

6 - should've bet more on the flop. did he have medium pair? I'd be tempted to fire another 200 at him on the turn but this early your probably ok

    35 - standard

47 - nice - using AX to semibluff is OK but otherwise fold it

    52 - standard

    72 - standard

83 - raise to 400 PF once in a while with AX, you'll get alot more folds from the button

88 - why AI? You want to protect you QQ but an 800 bet may have been better. If he calls that he's pot comitted anyway.

101 - fold, why risk the chips for so little reward

    174 - standard
