Default Aggressive is the way to go

So i've completely changed my game in the last couple days, and notice instant success in my SNG's. since I began playing a ripptyde hyper-aggressive style, my ROI and ITM have shot through the roof! It took about 5 sit n go's to get used to this new style, but with a strong background of poker I think I adapted rather quickly. In my last 7 sng's I have won 4, and got 2nd in two other ones. I know this pace is unsustainable, however during this time I havnt really had that many great cards.

Basically here is my theory (not really mine but I feel like I should attempt to give back to the forum)

When you play tight aggressive, your sitting, waiting for cards. People are expecting you have cards, and when you raise, they will fold more often. this is good for rare bluffs, but your real hands will not pay off. Basically there is more variance because you must get cards to win.

When you play hyper-aggresive, you are almost always gonna play the same regardless of your cards. Since your not gonna be going AI every time you steal, as long as your opponets do not repetitively hit crads you will do well. Plus when you do get cards its really easy to take people out. And, instead of getting a lot of 3rds, and 2nds, you start getting firsts.

anyways, Im sure this was useless to everyone since Rippy has already stated this all much clearer. What a watse of my time

not useless to me, i can us any reminder i can get to stay aggressive.

i have to keep pounding the aggression theory into my head, especially later in the tourney. I start out tight, then try to get more aggressive in the middle, but for some reason when i get down to 10-17 left (i play 45 person mostly) i feel myself pulling back into my shell and trying just to get into the final table, this has led to a disproportionate number of 11th place finishes.

since convincing myself to stay aggressive through this stage i am seeing more final tables and more payouts.

Yea, sometimes if you are too aggresive ealry, it make it harder to be aggresive late, because people will start firing back. I try to not get to crazy until blinds are about 1/50th the chips in play. Thats for 1 table though, I dunno how 2-table is different.

How many did you play with this new style?

I agree with aggression on the bubble, but early on it is a great way to lose alot of chips it seems to me. The occasional bluff from position when the blinds are at 15/30 or 25/50 is alright, but the rest of the time i find it is usually just risking alot of chips for little reward.

I would much rather be down only 200 chips 90% of the time when the blinds get to 50/100 than having a short stack some of the time and having a big stack some of the time.

The big stack when entering the bubble period (5 players or less) doesn't have a huge advantage over a good player who has sat tight until the bubble. I always think it is best to make it to the bubble as much as possible, and then concentrate on getting the chips w/ increased aggression.

I think even Rippy understands the value of not bleeding chips.

With a one table SNG, I think that bbubble play is the right time to get aggro.
