Default Critical mass, or grumpy members.....

Have we reached critical mass, where we have so many members that we have no tolerance for one another? I have read several posts (more than just a few) lately where the antipathy has been nearly palpable. Instead of ignoring or at least trying to answer questions, it seems that some folks are going out of thier way to start arguments by criticizing other individual's posts. I agree that there have been quite a few low content posts all over this board recently. There have also been an abundance of "repeat" type questions, that could have been answered if the querier had searched a little first. However the nature of web forums is that the more experienced members have to repeatedly answer the "standard" questions of new members....it can become tiresome at times, but I don't see the need for the animosity. I suppose what I am saing is that FTR has always been a friendly place for beginners and old hands to interact in a productive way....it seems like we are losing a bit of that now. Why don't we all try to show a little more tolerance for our fellow members...mmmkay.

Thats a great idea... maybe we should create a sticky where we can nominate threads with quality discussion to get added to the list and make reading through those threads a requested prerequisite to posting.

I have only been lurking around, but compared to other forums it is not even close to bad. Bad apples here and there I am sure, people in bad moods from a bad day at the table...but overall as a "newbie" I can't complain at all. Lots of good information and the people who are willing to help are the ones that matter...not the ones who want to start shit. You get used to ignoring them....so good job guys. I don't think you have much to worry about.

I guess i'm partly responsible for this. I'm usually in a good mood when I read the boards and don't go out of my way to insult someone who is just new or asking for advice. The only reason I was mean to gareth is because it seemed he was being rude to drmcboy. But even that thread isn't too bad, compared to other boards. But it's also better to stay on top of things so they don't get out of hand.

I would just like to apologise for my part in all of this -In future I will make sure I wont cause or stirr-up a bad tempered argument on these boards.

Since finding this forum i have enjoyed many of the posts and discussion's and feel that it not only helped my game but I'm sure has helped so many other's.

So I would just like to say sorry to everyone including drmcboy and Snot_III for my behaviour.

I love you guys/gals. Sorry for any hurt feelings I may have caused. I don't like rude behavior at the table, I shoudn't be rude in the forum either.

I'll use 60 hours now without a smoke as my excuse. This time I am beating the death sticks!

All I can say, is that ppl have been extremely helpfull on this board, where I have only been for around 2 months (I think) - thank you all.

Regarding sed's idea: I think its a great idea to make a sticky with links to some of the best posts in this forum, cuz there are a lot of really good post in this forum that could get a sticky (a FAQ) so newcomers (and I) could read those first
