Default What do you do here?

$6/.50 Turbo SnG. Basically going for a steal but got called. What's your play with a flop like this?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (3 handed) converter

    Hero (t1840)
    BB (t5885)
    Button (t5775)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A, 2.
1 fold, Hero raises to t600, BB calls t400.

    Flop: (t1200) K, 5, 9 (2 players)

    Hero: ??????

Wow you have a sticky situation.

Push and grabbed your nuts and hope you dont get called.

Check/Fold lay it down like a man and build your stack.

    Hmmm good question.

Checking is weak and isn't going to tell you anything. How has this guy been playing? Is he going to call a bet if he didn't hit the flop? If he folds a lot and doesn't make many moves, i'd make a continuation bet of about 1/2 of the pot, maybe a little less depending on what size bet he will respect. If he calls that bet assume he called you with a king in his hand and don't bet again unless an ace comes up. He could have called you with a PP.

It's really hard to say if we don't know what your reads are though.

Yeah it was a tough decision in the heat of the battle. Couldn't wait too long making a decision either because the person would then know I had squat.

Actually that was the problem I had. This SnG went extremely fast and was a push fest. One person went out on the first hand, lol. I didn't have enough hands to make a good read on the BB.

Yeah that came to mind after I posted it on here. My thinking then was 9 BB is respectable, but now I realize it is not compared to my opponents. A push steal prolly would of worked better.
    pulling a courtiebee pŏŏl-ĭng ā kôrt-ē-bē (verb phrase):
    1. overvaluing mid pocket pairs
    2. knowing you should fold, but donkishly calling or raising anyway

This is precisely why I no longer like trying to steal from the sb. It's very hard to play in situations like this when you get called. I really think either going all-in preflop or completing the bb is the best way to go with a hand like this.

Push and hope he has an A as well or that he folds. If you get called you only have 3 outs to hit your A.
