This might of been an extremely stupid play on my part but i got lucky. I felt as if they were both on high cards. I threw out a small continuation bet on the flop hoping for both to fold. The table was very active, calling big raises with A5s. I felt as if I needed to take a gamble in hoping niether had medium pockets. Yet, I thought it over and the pot odds were to tempting. I am sure this hand could of been played much better.

    What would you guys do?

You won the coin flip... you had a certain amount of chips already invested... you had a decent sized stack.. do you feel coin flips are worth half your stack on 50/50 coin flips?

Why necessarily put them on high cards? Or did you mean "I hoped they had high cards"?

Personally I would have raised more preflop. The button minraise reeks of a blind steal. You raise to 575.... think about this for a second. If the big blind folds, you're giving the original raiser, who has position on you, 3:1 odds to call you. That's an auto-call no matter what cards he was stealing with. What was your reasoning for the raise? Ideally you want to find out where he's really at, not just sweeten the pot, and hopefully just take it down preflop. Raise to 900 or 1000 so he doesn't have odds to call. That also makes decision making later in the hand easier. A move like this would likely have forced BB to push preflop, making your call simple (assuming button folds).

do you feel coin flips are worth half your stack on 50/50 coin flips?
When he called the all-in it was no longer a coin flip. There was almost 1800 in the pot, and 1615 to call. Greater than 2:1 pot odds. Depending on the range of hands you put this guy on (based on reads), an argument can be made for this call. Don't use preflop odds to determine whether he played the hand right.

Did you have a read on this guy?

I bet the button was trying to just steal the blinds probally with some hand like K8s or something. Yet, my reraise was more of an information raise, a little probe bet to see if he reraised me back indicating extreme strength. Problem was the bigblind called. Out of desperation, I threw out a bet in trying to win the pot when the flop came all rags, my position in the tourney would suck if I lost this hand. I was already short stack and now I would be extreme short stack.

Only read I really had was button slowplayed his trips and would make continuation bets with one person in the pot. No read on big blind, he was playing a tight conservative style game.

Great post though man thanks for input.
