Perhaps he just feared AX filling his boat and was betting to protect?

Seen this move a few times, not sure what you can put the player on, a Flush, Ax or pocket 7's, did you call?

I'd probably have folded this early in the SnG, don't think you can call here myself.......

A9o is a fold preflop this early in a SnG.

Ordinarily I would agree, but he is in the SB and its only costing him 5 into a 90 pot.

i fold preflop to avoid the postflop decisions.

I've stopped playing hands like these early in a SnG unless i get to check in the BB.

It's helped me usually get to the last 4-5 players with a larger stack and not bleed chips and face these type of decisions early on...

I hate making a bad call that gets me busted out of a SnG when i'm under no pressure to play marginal hands.

BTW, I'm no real expert and a lot of the improvement in my game has come from reading your posts Vqchuang and the other posters replys

this is exactly how i feel, especially on the lower buyins on party that start with such shallow stacks.

For 5 chips I think it's worth the risk if you can lay it down.

Assuming a call, I think I'd probably lay the hand down to the AI turn bet.

sure, the pot odds are good, but the pot isn't big enough for me to want to fight over. AXs is a drawing hand, and stacks aren't deep enough to play draws. You might hit your ace, but then you must fear a better kicker. I like going into hands confident that I have the best hand.

Iv been thinking about this hand.

My answer after the heat of the moment is that calling is not good.

    What do I beat?
An ace with a lower kicker and a bluff.
IM drawing to ten outs for the full house, someone could have an ace with a better kicker, or the made flush.

This has to be a fold. BAD play by me.

    I violated the rule
"dont lose ur pants in an unraised pot"

you won't get the flush draw to fold, unless you push, and if you push you are usually only called by a better hand.
