    Default Scared to move up?

Hello. I started playing poker online a few months ago and bought in with a measly 75$. Over the past few months I have learned a great deal about online play, and done very well in the low buy in sit n gos, limit poker, and MTT's. I moved up from the 5$ SnG's to the 10 when my bankroll hit around 250. I also started playing in some MTT's.

Lately i've been placing a good deal in the MTT, and my bankroll is up to 1300. I know I should really move up, but there are still times where i'm not sure what my opponent has. I haven't performed a successful resteal, or busted anyones bluffs. My game is straightforward, and I want to improve my play before I move up. I'm not sure if my game style will work at the higher levels.

Is this sound reasoning? Or am I just making excuses not to move up, for whatever reason? Has anyone else felt this way?

    Thanks for the help.

This is good news....if you were always sure what your opponent had you would be psychic or somehow hacked the poker client software of your chosen site. If you are not ready mentally to accept the risk of osing a lerger sum of money then you should not step up. If the money does not bother you and you are simply afraid of getting out played....then you should move up....make sense?
I suppose what I'm saying is that it is easier to rise to the challenge when you are afraid your skill aren't up to snuff, you will play a bit conservatively at first then learn that these guys are not any better than you. If you are playing with scared money however, you will most certainly not do what it takes when the time comes for fear of losing your buy-in....esentially your game will move from cautious to fearful (a fine line but there is a distinction there)

    Start up two tables

    One 10 and one 20.

    Play them.

Win the 20 and lose the 10 and be like WOW. Im the goot.

As long as your not playing with scared money then everythings ok. You can always set a limit forurself. LIke, well Ill give my self 6 Buyins at the 20s to just test the waters, and then I will move back REGARDLESS for a little bit.

Rather than going for a fixed number of buy-ins, go with a fixed bankroll floor at which you'll move back down.

For instance, when I hit $300, I'll start playing $15 turbos rather $6, but I'll move down should I ever fall below $200.

Yeah, i'm not necessiarily playing scared when I do higher limits, I just feel like I have more to learn at the lower limits. It's like I need just a few more weapons to move up. But, even at the 20$ games I have more than enough bankroll to cover it, so maybe i'll check it out for 5 games or so and see what i'm up against.

How confident are you in your reads? Have you ever played a hand with the sole purpose of outplaying someone preflop? How much does this change as the levels change?
