    Default advice on .25-.5 nl

    hey all
i have a bank roll of 60 bux and im a pretty decent player.
its been up and down with a few bad beats but im still bout even.
i usually play the top hands and a suited connected or ax ever so often.

how would you guys play these games to make as much money as possible?
i figure camp and wait for good hands with a well timed bluff ever so often...what do you guys think?

    Axs is junk.

Only play connectors if you know how to play, you are obviously new so just avoid them.

    AND READ THAT THREAD.

with 60$, your better off playing the penny tables with 2 to 5$ buyins.

if you want to play the .25/.50 NL tables, i recommend a bankroll at least 650$

$750 at the very least, $1000 is recommended.

That's kind of silly. I used to constantly play 5 tables of $0.25/$0.50 NL with only $500 in my account and never had any problems at all.

BUT YOU DON'T BLEED LIKE US MORTAL MEN!

I've had some nasty swings. 10 bbs is just taking unneccessary risk.

Oh a side note, I fucking hate the word neccessary. I never know how to spell it, every time I get to it I stop for like 10 minutes and undoubtedly misspell it anyway. Half the time, I just change the whole damn word to needed. FUCK!

    One 'c', two 's'.

    Necessary.

Read that thread, n00b. It's clearly neccessssecccarcsy.

Seriously, what you're asking is a pretty basic question. Read this site's strategy pages (not the forums - the strategy section on the main site). Read a poker book or two. I don't really recommend suited connectors for people starting out. I REALLY don't recommend Ax suited for people starting out, or anybody else, except Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, and me on the button when I'm feeling saucy. It's a leak hand; people love it and people lose money on it. That hand is probably not making anybody money in full ring games.

I also second the notion that your bankroll is way slim. A couple bad sessions or bad beats and you lose it all. Fill 'er up to at least $300 so you can withstand a few swings.

With $60 go to the 0.01 tables and learn how to deal with the fish. There really is no raising structure in 0.01 but you will learn what hands are worth and what kind of hands fish play. Raising sturucture dosnt come in to play untill $10NL, but if your gonna decide to play here you should have at least a bankroll of $100, which you can easily make in the 0.01 tables. ( or NL5 )

oops just noticed im posting in the wrong forum.
    sorry guys....

anyway...ive tried to play at the lower limits like .25-.10 but i cant do it. all people do is wait for a good hand and try to suck out.
at least on .25-.50 theres some sort of raising preflop.
my bankroll started from a freeroll on absolute poker. a big $2.
now im up to $115 after doubling up today.
i also play the sng's and have had a 55% itm, and 75% roi on the $2.25 games.
im not a noob or anything. im just looking at specifially how do you guys play these low blind nl games as apposed to nl sngs and tourneys. do you camp? are you aggressive?
    thanks!

Well nice job doubling up. We're not saying you cant do it, but I guess just a fair warning, dont be surprised if you lose your whole 'roll in just one bad session. I mean espically if your sitting down at a single table with your whole 'roll. Whether your a noob or not, you will hit bad cards and you will lose a buy-in or two. I once went on a downswing over 4 days where I lost 15 buy-ins! (6000$) Now obviously thats by far the worst downswing I've ever had, but you get the picture. Downswings do happen and generally they happen when you least expect, i.e. when everything is going your way.

As for people waiting for cards and then sucking out.. well .10/.25 is a tedious camping game, and theres really no other two ways around it. You've got to grind it out there to build the 'roll, and thats really the only feasible way to build a big roll to play at the higher stakes.

I know you want the easy way out, and when I played 50 NL I did too. But the cards have another thing in mind.
    BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live

    Yes. And Yes.

Camping is being patient and waiting for good hands, maybe only seeing like 15% - 25% of flops. Being aggressive is betting and raising hard. Tight-Aggressive is someone who doesn't play many hands, but plays aggressively when they do get involved, and this is usually the best and easiest way to beat low buy-in NL ring games. Keep browsing the site, and read the strategy guides.

You've just described why .10/.25 is more profitable than .25/.50.

People play crap and try to suckout more often, that's exactly what you want, not a tight/aggressive preflop raising game.

its usually pretty easy to find a loose game, but playing in tight games isn't always bad either, if you can read the other players.
