Default Blind Steal gone wrong, call the re-raise all-in?

I was getting shortstacked (blinds 75/150) i have 950 and hadnt had a chance to make any steals/moves or even take down any pots.. then im on the button with J3s and it folds around.

I make it 500 to go, and BB re-raises all-in.

Pot is now 1.7k and its 450 more to me, this is giving me better than 3-1 pot odds to call.

BB is very LAGy and i think he could have any overcards as bad as ATo

with this in mind im roughly 33% dog, or 3-1

seeing as im left with just 450 if I fold, and im just about getting pot odds I called.

Is this the right move / did i calculate everything right?

Good call. Also, since you're gonna call anyway you should just Push in the first place.

It's more like 60/40. You are only a 33% dog if u have a hand like 38os there. If your two undercards are live and either suited or connected it's more like 60/40. In fact even if one of your cards is shared you still have like a 30% shot. The call was fine (but I agree you shoulda just pushed).

Generally speaking (especially when below 10bb's) its not a good idea to commit half your stack to a pot with complete garbage. Comitting your whole stack is fine and is what you should have done.

Ok guys.. i actually intended to get all my chips in kinda no matter what, well i hoped he would either fold or flat call for me to bluff allin at the flop.

But i see what you mean how I may as well of pushed.

He had KK which was unexpected so i was only 18% to win, i hit my J at the flop but no 5 outer came to win it.

Um, before you even make the raise, you should have said to yourself "If BB pushes, do I call or fold?"

yeah don't blind steal if you can't handle check / folding the flop or folding to a reraise... but good call.

quoted for truth, fold or AI. You can survive about 4 rounds(hence your M is ~4) I would have pushed here with anything but the really awful HU hands like 23o. you want to leave yourself some chances of winning if he decides to make a loose call.

What was the point in pushing in half of your stack if the intention was to get them all in eventually. A bad play if you ask me, you should have just showed strength and gone all in. The only problem was, no matter what you did in this instance you were going to be called by someone with KK. Next time just push them all in if you are going to try and do this. Not sure why you were trying this anyway if you still had a round the table to go before the blinds came back to you. There was the possibility that you could have picked up a better hand somewhere before the blinds reached you than J 3 off.
