 Key hands from Empire $1+0
Here’s a $1+0 tourney I played on Empire earlier today, and was looking for some advice. I cut out all the times I folded trash pre-flop to make it easier to read, and just posted the key hands, and hands where I was wondering if I made the best play or not. My screen name is Gstovall7. 1) Ok, here I was wondering if maybe I should’ve called the minimum raise and taken a flop, since there were so many callers, I was getting 10:1 pot odds. I’m thinking that if had something like connectors I would’ve seen a flop, but there’s not a whole lot you can like with J6o

4) Was this a good preflop bet, or should I was been wary of the flush possibilities and just folded? I decided that a bet on the flop would be good to see where I was. Also, even though the river helped me, it also made a 4-straight on the board. Should I have bet the river in this situation?

5) Should I have made this call on the flop? I was thinking with an over card and a straight draw it was worth it to pay the minimum to take one off. When the turn wasn’t any help, I decided to give it up.

6) Ok, here I thought I had enough pot odds and chips to call 10 more and speculate on the flop. When the flop comes, with bad position and a lot of people to act behind me, I decide to check and hope for a free card. When the button bets 60, I’m paying 60 to win 180, So I think I had the odds to call here, especially since he could’ve just been trying to steal since it was checked around. Since I thought he could be on a steal, I decide to semi-bluff on the turn and take down the pot. I thought I played this hand well.

8) Here’s my first big loss of the tournament, and the one where I think I may have made a mistake in how I played it. I felt I had a decent hand in the small blind and decide to take a flop. On the flop I get TPGK and bet it out, where it is raised and called. The raise wasn’t that much more, so I thought I had the pot odds to call. I wasn’t sure my JK was good, but I figured there was a chance. I decide to check the turn and see how other people play it. If there was another big bet on the turn, I figured I could be up against a set or two pair. When everyone checked, I thought maybe there were a lot of drawing hands and my hand was still good, so I bet out, figuring the 7 couldn’t have helped anyone, but I was wrong. Should I have bet the turn on this hand? I’m think maybe I could’ve taken it down on the turn, but it would have been hard to get todmason off the hand with a pair and flush draw.

9) Ok, my second big loss. Not exactly sure what I was thinking. With a such a small bet I figured he might be on a draw, so I decide to raise him to put him to the test.

18) Was it right to call here? I was getting low on chips and had a good hand. I figured it might be a race, and I might dominate them ( I didn’t figure there was much of a chance I was against AA or KK) so was this the right play here?
