AQo is a strong hand, especially from middle position. people also tend to play tight in the beginning, so you raise that hand and fold them out, leaving you in position with the callers. |

I would have raised it the normal 3xbb and see who stayed in the hand. AQ is a pretty strong hand in MP like the person above said. |

I would fold if someone had raised it, but with limpers definetly throw out a 3-4x BB raise, if you get reraised let it go.

throw out a slight overbet, maybe about 6X to 8X, as a 3X or 4X will just get called; the object here is to get heads up. I know it is the 1st hand and i agree with not getting involved, but at worst you lose a few chips and start to get some info. At best you get one loose caller with an Ace rag, an ace hits and he can't let it go; sure he'll pair his rag kicker once in a while but i'll take those odds.

you can't raise 3x here because everyone will call. just limp and hope you <3 the flop. This hand isn't good enough to put out a big enough of a raise where you'll actually get folds. that is, unless you have 1500 stacks, i'm just used to the 800 stacks at party.

That is an unusual structure; what site was it? You could still fire out a 3.5X raise with this structure as the raise has more value than raising 3.5X in a party game L1.

Those are gay blinds, after they raise once your stuck with 10x BB if you havnt won a big pot.

that structure sounds quite cool. no messing about with tiddly blinds and I prefer the long levels . is it a single table or a 2 or 3 table? if it is a single table how long does it usually take?

man, the SnG;s last about 45minutes to and hour and a half. there seems to be alot of fish. I really like the MTT's. You can sit and wait then later in the tourneys about 2 hours in the antes are worth stealing. You pay about 2k to get into a 15k pot. The tables seat 10 people.

With blinds that high starting off, I'd say you want to raise. You want to take advantage of every chance you have to grab some chips when you're likely to have the best hand.

Depends alot on the SnG but i find at stars if i get AQo early with limpers then i'll usually fold it ,I'll call it suited in LP. To drive people out I have to make a much larger raise then i want to commit with this hand considering even after raising 5-6xBB i might still get 3+ callers which is hardly what i want with AQ unless i'm limping it. Once the blinds get a litter bigger and i have a bit of a feel for the table i'm much happier playing the hand for a raise. |
