Default Know your expectations for a hand

I found that this helps me alot.

This is something you should do each time you are in a hand. Preflop you get J-Qs in late position and only 1 limper. Now what you do here is think and do you want to play for a straight, flush or pair........ Now if your playing for a pair you should raise, if a flush or straight limp.

    So whats this all mean??
If you know what you are going to play preflop then you wont be confused on what to do after the flop. So know if you are in a hand then what are you going to need on the flop to continue in the hand.........

Some things to consider before you play past the flop.

Know your opponents: If u raised pre-flop and he just called, judge from past play if he called on a drawing hand or a monster. If he hasnt played a single hand in 25 minutes at the table then he's probally got a strong hand.

Stack Size: If you are low on chips dont just call bets that will cost you 10-20% of your stack. You might as well just go all in because if you are on a drawing hand and you call another 3 bets ( and they probally wont be minimums) you are risking 60% of your chips and if u dont hit you are practially done. On the other hand if i have alot of chips i like to limp with Suited connectors and just hope you catch something so know in your head what your going to do..... "If i catch a 4 straight and have 8 outs the max bet im going to call is __".

Most important POSITION: Position is the most important thing. its alot easier to limp in with your baby pairs and your marginal hands when you are in late position. So know if u call early in postion with your baby pair what is the maximum you are going to spend too see the flop in case someone raises behind you..........

Its the little things in poker that make you a better player. and learn from others mistakes thats what this board is all about. Hope this helps out the newer players cuz most advanced players know there limits and what to except after the flop..........

i think it's pretty good. i would disagree with the 10/20% you might as well push thought. Here's 2 reasons.
    1. That's how most people knock themselves out of a tourney unnecessarily.
    2. You can STEAL postflop with your remaining chips. If you have kqs and want to call and expect no raise from the blinds, then you can do that. and if you THEN want to push post flop, even if the hand missed you, then you may have a better chance of the steal working. VERY VERY OFTEN a push from the button or sb preflop will get a call from anyone with a naked A. However, if you give them a chance to not catch on the flop and THEN PUSH they will more often than not fold their bare A.

But i think it's a good post. Not perfect, but thinking and trying to add to other's abilities. Good job!

well my point mainly is that dont go on draws if you are short stacked....

Unless you absolutly have too and its a draw to the nutz. now when i was a young pup i would waste away chips on 2 things, suited cards that arent connected in any position EX. K-3s, q-5s and A-rag. Now they are the sucker hands if you catch you flush you are likely to get beat by a higher one. and ace rag- someone always had a better kicker than me so i just stopped playing them.
