Default Did I get Screwed Legitimately?

O.K. guys...I'm still fuming over this, and was wondering what you guys think (or know) to be the rule.

I played a Multi Table home game last night with 25 or so players. I was short stacked (got sucked out on gutshots, 72 players flopping boats, higher sets, etc.)with 5x BB with blinds about to go up, so I push with A5. I get 2 callers (out of turn at that!) that each have a substantial amount of chips. They both play the hand out with minimal betting, but I think they had a small side pot.

Anyway, one of the guys still in is the dealer. After the river, I have a pair of aces, one guy has a pair of Qs and the other guy has nothing. I start collecting the chips, when another player at the table (that I had been dominating most of the game) says "wait...you didn't burn before the river". I can't say for sure if he burned or not, but the dealer(still in the hand BTW) agreed. but anyway they pulled down the river and say that's now the burn. next card is a J giving one of the dealer 2 pair and the guy with nothing a straight, knocking me out of the tourney.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting to win with an A5os and a full table but having almost tripled up, then to have it snatched from me felt crappy. Were they right in how they did this? Or should we have all just took our money back and re-dealt? I guess, I'm just after some sort of justification to rub in if they did indeed do it the wrong way...although it's little consolation for getting knocked out by a group of very poor players.

if he had burned, you would be able to point to the burned card (assuming you follow procedure and keep burn separate from the muck --- very important, for exactly this reason)

anyway, as i understand it the dealer calls it. only way out would be if opps muck before the guy points out the lack of a burn card. Mucked hands are dead in all situations.

the same thing happened to me last night at a home game. three people were allin. i had top two pair, one guy had top pair+ flush draw, other guy had flush draw + gutshot. the turn and river card were placed down at the same time and when the river was a heart i was like "wtf burn a card first plz" then he said he already did, and of course since i lost i didnt believe him. from now on im going to be poer nazi and post home game rules that include not burning the cards before the appropriate time.

Usually when a card isn't burned, we just go ahead and burn the card we flipped up, and flip up a new one. If it gets fucked up enough, you reshuffle the cards (not including the previously burned cards, community cards, or mucked cards), and proceed from there.

I think this thread belongs in the Home Games and Gear forum.

    Easily verifiable just like that.
I'll be a rootin' tootin' shootin' damn fool, protectin' my chips.
