Default Lay down AA on the river?

First orbit of a $3 freeze. I thought about calling on the river for a bit because a missed flush/straight draw could make that bluff, but it seems unlikely. Maybe he had KK/JJ or something? I think I should've bet the pot on the turn and maybe make a bet on the river too. Comments?

I think your laydown was probably right - and very impressive. With you betting on the flop and the turn, I don't see how this guy could keep calling and then make a bluff on that river unless he is a complete idiot (which is possible). After you raise preflop, bet the flop, and bet the turn can he really be on the draw and think you don't have at least the Q and will call here? I'd put him on the Q or TJ and say you made the right laydown.

Then again it's $3 so I woulda called in a screw it, it's only $3 rationale.

In most cases you really shouldn't be even seeing the river with AA. Bet more on the flop(at least the size of the pot. You only bet 3/5 the pot size. I would've bet more on the turn as well. If expect your opponent is on a draw then you should be making him pay a premium price to do so. When the blinds are that small relative to chip stacks you have to remember that people don't value them as much so you often even have to over bet.

    agreed. Good laydown.
First hand up, maybe hit that flop a little harder, you have to be infront so im make him pay a little more for another card. Not being critical though.

Bet more preflop and postflop. Don't allow him to make his hand on the turn or river. Get most of your money in in the earlier betting rounds.

yeah mg is right raising only 4XBB pre flop with aces early on in a 3 dollar MTT is jusy wrong :P, i would have raised it to 150 or so and then bet around the pot in the flop, if he calls both of these bets then procede with caution as he may have out flopped you

I think your lay down was right in the circumstances and was probably a good play. I agree with others your betting pre flop was probably a little weak and people early on in tournaments, especially $3 entry ones will call a x4BB bet because they think they are getting value to hit their hand and out draw you. I think a bet of 150 is the proper way to isolate. It would obviously be annoying if all folded, but you would have still picked up some chips for perhaps minimum risk.

I hate AA when the blinds are still low. They are there to be cracked by loose players.

Yeah bigger raise on the flop... if you make it 120, the pot is around 270 on the flop (assuming 1 caller), make it 225 ish there, pot is 700 or so, then you can more or less move in on the turn, or at least have little enough left over you won't even have to think about going for the rest.
