Default Do i push or check?

Early stages of an mtt, cant remember the buy in.
    Im utg+1
    utg mini raises to 2xbb
I have pocket 8s and call.
    Everyone else folds.
    Flop comes KQrag rainbow
He checks it to me, what do i do?

Early so no reads he has double my stack so if he loses the hand it might hurt a touch, im pretty sure that in checking it to me hes missed it with AJ or AT or something similar playing daft from ep.
    Whats the best move?
I'll post results after a few suggestions.

I think you can safely bet the flop as your last action on the hand.

Well i pushed my pocket 8s as the best hand. It was until the river when a ten turned up and made his ace high straight from AJ.
For half his chip stack on 10 outs as it turned out i labelled him up for a good cash table game.

I dont think you need to push the flop if it was early in a MTT...

i dont see why you pushed here....you had pretty much nothing invested in this pot.

Check this early in the tournament and hope to catch a card for your set with a free card. With those over cards what was the point in pushing your chips in the middle? A simple rule early with middle pocket pairs is no set on the flop, no bet, unless you are convinced you are ahead because the flop has all undercards. Pocket 8's are just not worth clinging onto early in a tournament when you have only invested a minimum amount of chips anyway.
