 MTTs are not lottos Edited HH attached
I've seen several posts from players indicating that they feel MTTs are coinflips or real gambling, "You need cards" etc etc. This is an example of hitting ITM with a horrible run of cards, showing down only one hand out of more than 150 hands and never giving anyone a bad beat.
This is a stars 10+1 FO, 2021 entrants. This is the coldest run of cards I've seen in a awhile, in the hands prior to ITM I didn't see AKo/s, JJ, QQ, AA or KK not once statistically I should have seen one of those three or more times given the number of hands.
Later on the cards heat up big time, but that was after hitting ITM on some choice reads and steals got me there.
Also note that this wasn't a great table texture either. Cowbama, who you will see to my right, saw about 65% of flops meaning I really needed cards to show down with him. Likewise the player two seats to my left had a 55%. These would have been great players to show down with if I was picking up a few cards, even statistically, but I wasn't.

Cowbama is extremely loose passive preflop, but if he misses the flop he tends to get out. Preflop I am reading a really shitty steal attempt, but I think I can out maneuver him post flop.
if he checks to me or shows weakness I'm going to pick it up, that board is beautiful for me. The min bet on the flop is all I needed on this FUGLY board.

I can't call this for a couple of reasons. I'd much rather be the one pushing than the one calling a push. KQs is not a favorite against A2o, so essentially any hand he could theoretically push with here has be at an unfavored coinflip or dominated, with the exception of KJ.. So one hand theoretically, so I can't call. Makes it worse that I would have won, but I stand by this decision.

Second pocket pair, if there were no limpers I'd likely push but I can't call and hope for a set with my stack size I also lack the stack leverage to get folds out of the limpers considering my short stack, thus the fold, but it was good to fold this from MP after that raise came down.

Again, this hand can't stand a raise all in and the fellas almost had my covered. Not worth gambling if I have no fold equity.

At this stage we are now ITM. One AQ, one 22, one 77 with an AI before it. Table texture at both tables I was at was horrible too, had LAG players (particularly the L part, loose, which is horrible for steals.) to both the left and right, I just picked my fights and reads held up. I ended up finishing up tier 4 ITM, 89th out of 2021, after getting up to about 60k (and fifth place) on steals and hotter cards after running into a bad beat that crippled me that isn't really worth repeating.
You don't need cards to money, and you need cards even less to steal steal steal when bubbling or post ITM.
