Clearly the higher flush scares me here, but then again I have no read - a doof could have an 8, a 4, two pair, a set, or a lower flush.

I fold it with no reads.

You've already put in 1/3 of your stack. And if you win, you will be in a great position.

It depends on your style of play. I might lean toward folding, but have a tough time. Rippy, for example, would call this hand every time. He is willing to take those early gambles to get the chips. I would rather win my chips little by little and safer.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

    I call it there.

But what on earth were you doing chasing your flush like that!

Ummm - I was BB and got to see a free flop. Bet on flop was so weak I got huge implied odds. Turn gave me three more outs for 3 for a str8. I don't think this was a bad chase at all. I think PokerEd bet poorly.[/url]

I did - and will everytime without a read. Just one of those hands that I figured was interesting to post and to see how people play MTTs.

    Bad chase.
    Gotta call now.
i'd reckon he thinks you hit the straight and hes got a flush. I'd call and cry if he has king/ace high flush better than mine.

Terrible calling but since you came this far, call.

You're "extra 3 outs" on the turn for a straight don't count cause you'd have the worst possible straight and you wouldn't call an allin with that... would you ?

Your "weak bet" is 3/4 of the pot, not that weak IMO. On turn he bets like 2/3 of the pot and you still call. In ring this is bad play, in tournaments just awful. Raise or fold!!

Ping - 3/4 of the pot sounds big. But it was only 60 chips. My implied odds were through the roof. The turn bet did make me sit and pause - but I figured I could win those 150 chips back if I needed to.

TanO - I didn't have PokerEd for the 89 so if he had pushed with a non-spade 3 on the river I wouldv'e had to think for a long time - but your right I probably fold to a push there.

Fold Flop. Check River. Call now that you're here with the range of hands that do this and your equity against them.

Getting a huge stack early actually doesn't increase your overall future FE, only against Tight players but against Loose players it actually decreases your FE because they expect you as the big stack to bluff more. So it's doesn't really help to take a marginal gamble to build a big stack. So without the odds on the Flop you should fold-you're OOP and you lose only 20 chips. There's a reason why Don't go broke in an unraised pot is a poker maxim.

On the River you can induce a bet from a worse hand by checking but rarely get Called by a worse hand by betting- I mean you played every street passively and now bet out with the 3rd spade...pretty transparent. Not to mention lose less against higher flushes.
