When the money is deep don't play for stacks pre-flop with AK against timid opponents with no reason to think they're pushing back at you.

Even a pair of ducks is ahead of you pre-flop.

When I'm in late position I like to see a flop with AK, I would have called the $2 not re-raised, especially not an amount that makes me pot commited. If I was going to re-raise, I would make it $4 or 5$ to go, and if he pushes I lay the AK down.

I also hear that playing post-flop with money behind is a good idea when you have position.

Fnord, while you are lurking, what are your thoughts of just calling with AK when your in late position?

How often do you just call, how often do you re-raise?

Especially when the raise is comming from Early position indicating a strong hand.

Early position raises push back more often. If he has 88-KK you wanna see a flop because you're behind. The only hand you're ahead of against a typical player is AQ. It's one of those situations where you only get action from a better hand.

Get into the habit of seeing a flop for a reasonable price with AK and isolation.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.
