Default Bet size - getting the best of it

Bet size - getting the best of it

I`m working hard lately to improve my game. Have reading and playing a lot. And I see there`s one point I`m not getting the best of it. And I`m talking about maximizing the profit of my winning hands.

We can talk here all day long how one should play agressive to build a stack in a SnG/MTT.

I`m practicing and doing pretty well lately in pickying pots with craps, playing position instead of just cards, pre-flop or in the flop.

I`m stealing, it`s working, but I have to be way agressive in the flop when I`m called pre-flop, so I can end up the action right there.

    Example:
    bbb = 20
    3 limpers
    I raise to 100
    1 caller

    flop comes raggy

If I`m in position over him (I am in this case) and he checks the flop, I bet something between 300-400.
If he bets something like 100-200, I re-raise him to something like 500-800. He folds and I get the pot.

    It`s being working pretty fine.

BUT....when I get a real hand....standard raise pre-flop...and when the flop comes, I make a 1/3 pot size bet, or even a half pot size bet, I get no action!

well...I guess you got the point here...it`s hard for me to explain, as English is not my best. But it`s something really to study and work.

I see guys, building big pots constantly in the first hour of a MTT/SNG. When I`m doing fine, I`m just above the average, or something like 2 to 3 times the initial stack (unless we got lucky and hit real monsters)

Well...hard to explain and put in all kind of situations that`s I`m thinking right now. But the main reason of this thread is: MAXIMIZING YOUR PROFITS

    Let`s talk about it?

    Regards,

    SC

I'm confused by your examples - if you're making PS bets when you're bluffing, you should be making the same bets when you hit, otherwise people will figure you out.

Yes, I suppose I was not that clear..

What you said is right, and that's the problem. Suppose I have a monster hand on the flop. If I bet the same way as when I'm pushing people out of the pot, I am not maximizing my profit, as I hardly will get called.

I'm just wondering how could I make my bets, when I have a hand, and when I don't, in a way that I can get the most of it.

Ok, if I have nothing, each penny I get is the most of it. The problem is, betting the same way with a real hand, won't encourage people to follow me to later streets.

The problem is exactly what u said, I can't overbet, let's say, 2 to 3 times the pot when I have nothing, and make a 1/3 pot size bet when I have the nuts. Even the worst player of the world will figure that I am supplicating for a call.

Regardless my confusions...the main theme here is: HOW MAXIMIZE YOUR PROFITS ?

    just wondering..

Inducing bluffs can work if you got a monster hand. You can check/call bets. Another way is to put out not suspicious looking bets, but bets that looks like you are showing weakness.

Player the player too. If the guy is a calling station, put out a couple bets that won't scare em away but keep calling. If he's LAg, induce some bluffs from him.
    pulling a courtiebee pŏŏl-ĭng ā kôrt-ē-bē (verb phrase):
    1. overvaluing mid pocket pairs
    2. knowing you should fold, but donkishly calling or raising anyway
