    Default Do you call this?

The big stack is pushing nearly every hand, do you call this seeing that you're on level with the other short stack?

Not unless he's given me a reason to call (i.e. I have a read of some sort to make me think for sure my hand is good).

I'd much rather push of my own volition with even a lessor hand.

If you fold here, next hand you can push on the BB with any two and have folding equity (assuming big stack folds) or let him knock out the other player (assuming he raises and you don't have cards) or triple up and have a chance at winning it (assuming he raises and you do have cards).

I don't know that I agree with this completely... I think in this particular situation, you can wait for a good hand/the other guy to bust/the other guy to double-up. In general though, small stack play is much more about using everything you have to fight your way out of the corner than it is about being patient and praying.[/list]

It looks like your going to be all in in around 9 hands or less if you don't pick up something. The other guys is going to be all in within the next 6 hands or so. However, I don't want to count on the other guy going out as he is certainly going to get his chips in the middle and gamble rather than let the blinds eat the rest up and he may get lucky and double up. Now your on the shit end of the blinds and guess what by now they have already gone up again or are getting ready too...(unless you already know he is going to let the blinds eat him up because of his passive play). Also, if your hanging around for this other guy to go out then your chances of picking up first place are almost non-existant I believe. You need to get in there and gamle right now IMHO. The difference between 3rd and 2nd is slim but between 3rd and 1st is wide so gamble it up and put yourself in a position to take first place.

This is my advice BECAUSE you say the big stack has been pushing every time. You either have him dominated here or its a coinflip in most circumstances. At this point you should consider taking a coinflip. He isn't getting a good hand 10 times in a row normally so if he is pushing that much then I would call him. Sure he may have you beat but with the blinds being high and getting higher in a few hands I just don't think you can count on getting a better hand that K-T and you can always suck out on him too...

In this situation he had a PP lower than your cards so its more or less a coin flip. I dunno, I had special powers and knew he had a pair of 99's or lower I would probably call with KT. He could have picked up ANYTHING but if you use that logic you can never be certain of any decision you make. I just don't think this is one that you should overthink. Just gamble.

If that is wrong I definately want to know because when I am down to this situation I go for it. Its easier to call all-ins once your in the money and you need to double up and you have a decent heads up or 3 person hand. Of which I think KT qualifies.

There is definately something to be said for a hand being better to push with than to call a push with but still...I think its time to gamble.

Its a funny thing when your someone like Fnord. You can just say what you mean in one clear concise sentence and its pretty much taken for face value.

When I post something I feel like I need to write a book about it to prove my point because I'm more noob (even if I do end up being wrong).

Just made myself laugh that is all...

I might be wrong. It might be close (ICM anyone?) and the blinds are big, but that's already been addressed. If the tall stack is pushing any 2, KTo plays well here.

    You have 2 concerns:
    1) Outlasting the other short stack
    2) Figuring out a way to dig out a win

If you fold here you're betting the short stack loses his inevitable all-in, which is looking like a 50/50 shot. You also lose a lot of chips by gambling later with a smaller stack. With the big stack is in bully mode we can't count on playing the mutually assured destruction first guy into the pot game with the other short stack. Finally, taking a stand here might slow the other players down if you show some spine and are willing to gamble.

You got into the money, the blinds are huge and got to gamble to win.

Somehow, I read the post without comprehending the "pushing nearly every hand". Given that, I'd take this shot (that's exactly the "some sort of read") to which I was referring in my earlier post. It would still depend slightly on how the other short stack is playing, but I'd probably call here.

KTo is about 60:40 vs any two, and only drops to 50:50 vs. a hand >= top 50% of hands (i.e,. like Q7o or better).

Folding and pushing from SB with any two is probably worth about 500 chips. Of course, big stack could (and probably should) just push again from the button.

I think it's close, but you have to call because of the blinds. You are betting 960 to get 1260, 4:3 on what is at least a 1:1, and possibly 3:2 in your favor. So, calling here is worth 600-750, slightly better than just pushing the next hand.

I think if the shorter stack had like <1/2 your stack, then it might swing it back the other way.
