    Default How to play Aces?

$5 SnG, 3rd hand so no reads. Pick up AA in mid position, no limpers, 1 person before me minraised to 80, i reraise to 160, sb and original raiser call. Flop come T93, all hearts. One of my Aces is a heart. sb bets out 160, other guy calls. How do you play this hand?

id say push it, you do have outs on the heart, and top pair, if he hit his flush, oh well, its a $5 sng and you can move on quickly to the next. if you happen to hit a heart or just win on the aces alone, you will double up, possibly triple depending on the BB of course. nothin like the nuts. this is just my opinion for being so early in the tourney, as it would leave you nicely to bully a little bit too if you tripled up. im relatively new to sngs as well, ive prolly only played 80-100 of them, so dont take my word as gold, although it is lol

What are starting stacks? If they are 1000-1500, I would re-raise preflop to at least 250-300. Don't let rubbish like Axs see the flop for cheap (and at the $5 level, 160 is still cheap). As played, definitely push the flop. There's some chance that your hand is still best, a good chance that the other two players fold and even if you get a call with a made flush, you're around 25-30% to hit another heart. Haven't done the calcs but I think that works out +EV.

At the $5 level (which is also where I play) you might also consider just pushing preflop. You might get one (or more) calls from players who are either maniacs or think you're one.

Reraise more preflop, you want to play heads up

Bet 300 or more on the flop. Unless you win a lot, it doesn't matter what you do at this stage in the tournament, you have many more hands to worry about. You don't want to be taking chances playing against crap like suited aces here.

Like everyone else has said push the flop, it's hand #3 and you have outs.

A higher raise preflop would be nice.

Since it's a $5 they probably have any pair, any kicker.

I called flop, turn not a heart, very suspiscious when it gets checked to me, anyone trying to force out with a pair is betting again so they are either both drawing or someone has a flush. I bet out 160, sb calls, other guy folds. He bets 160 on river again no heart, i figure it's worth it to see what he had, flipped over 7h 8h. At least the river wasn't 6h or Jh i suppose, would have lost my stack. Would only have saved time however, as i didn't place itm.
