    Default Early on.. tourney again

$20 tournament.. So I really did not want to get beat out early on..

    start with 1000 chips

I raised 75 chips pre flop with KQ 1 guy called.

    Flop was 88Q

I was first so I raised 125 chips..

    He raised to 400 chips.......

    Should I have called / re-raised allin ?

I felt pretty confident I had best hand... but this was about the 10th hand of the tournament and this was ALSO the first hand I played, and the first hand HE played!!!

So he looked extremely tight like me...

I assume he must of had AQ... or A8 suited...

    Please advise

What position were you in? If in EP it's probably a flat fold preflop.

    They were suited!
Forget what you should have done preflop.

Listen, I think you probably have the best hand here, but it's just not worth it to find out. You don't have a read, and this guy's pushing you around with position on you, and 2 more cards to come. Sometimes you have to fold what might be the best hand. You just can't "read" what this guy holds right now, you can't put him on a hand this early based on what you've seen. Without a read to go by, and without much invested in the pot yet, I would fold your KQ.

Don't play a MTT you aren't BR'd for. Going out on the first hand (or the 10th) always sucks, but if you aren't willing to do it because you plunked down 20 bucks for it, don't plunk the 20. You will get owned by people who play 14 $20 MTTs a day.

Specific to this hand, you've illustrated why KQ is not a very good hand. Especially since the blinds are not worth stealing, you're likely better 0ff folding, or limping and looking to hit a big hand (two pair+). As played, I would fold.
