Default How do u play AQ AJ in the Early stages?

Do u raise with AJ AQ in the first few levels or do u limp? Do you call raises or fold them? Whats the best way to play them at the start of the game?

What site are you on, Party i don't. But my play these is limited.

On stars i raise AQ in MP and in EP, and AJ in LP if there are no limpers.

I play on Party, so u think its best just to fold these, not even worth limping?

I play stars. I usually just limp w/ AQ especially if there have been some other limpers in the pot. You'll have to make quite a large raise to drive the maniacs out this early and I don't like commiting a lot of my stack so I just take a flop and hopefully hit something.

AJ I usually just toss unless it's suited or I'm in late position I might take a look but usually it's a muck.

    I play low-limit PP SnGs...

During the first 2 blind levels, if the table is fairly weak/passive.... I'll try to only play AJo or AQo from late position for a limp. It's not worth a raise here to me, since almost any meaningful raise is too expensive for a hand that isn't made and could get as many as 4-5 callers. If it's suited I'll try to limp from MP... or maybe EP... hoping for a board where I really can expect to be a favorite. LP, I might consider a raise, if the table appears tight.

Again, I'm not going to fall in love with TPTK.. and will look to play it fast or dump the hand if the board is at all worrisome.

I don't feel the need to gambool early in a SnG.. and will wait for the best hands in the best position to make chips, or out-play opponents during the blind stealing stage.

If there is a lot of limpers I will usually raise AQ 4-5 BB's depending on how deep our stacks are. I would much rather get 2 calls and have a sizeable pot almost knowing I have the best hand compared to seeing a flop with 6 people and not even feeling safe if an A flops.

As for AJ unless i'm in LP with little action I wont raise. I usually limp to see a flop if I think I might get one.

I think it's crazy to fold AQo or AJo if no one has shown any strength. Quite often you are throwing away the best hand. Just don't get married to them on a dangerous flop...

I'll normally limp them if i think i can see a flop.

Early levels I fold them at most all positions unless I know I can get a cheap flop. (button/sb)

Not so much that it couldn't be a winning hand, just that it is most likely to be a weak winning hand. Couple that with not having reads on anyone and having to deal with people drawing because they see smaller bets...just not worth it for me...maybe I am playing too tight but the potential gain is typically pretty small for the risk of going too far with a weak hand vs a possibly weaker hand.

    I play at stars

I usually raise AQ 3-4BB preflop.

If there is heavy raising before or behind me I may fold

AJ I will fold/limp from early/middle position depending on the table fabric, I will raise from late position if folded to me trying to get the blinds

AQ & AJ require some finess and require a read on your opponents (dominated by AK, AA and QQ/JJ). Obviously, suited is a little better than unsuited because of the nut flush potential. I find that these hands get you into trouble more often than not. If you rais from early position, you're opening yourself up to a reraise. Then what do you do? Play them cheap and don't call many raises with them. If you're going to raise with them, do it with position. Watch out if you only hit your J/Q, especially if it's not top pair.

I play AQo even harder than I play AK in the early stages. It's more vulnerable to multi-way action and there is the fear of an overcard. I like my chances with AQo heads-up but if you can't drive out the limpers you have to flop well to win.

I just call with AJo as there are six hands that dominate it opposed to four with AQo.
