Default Moving SNG's from PartyParty to PokerStars

I wrote my typical big-ol-long-winded post but decided to change it and get right to the point...

I am moving my SNG game from Party to Stars. Is there anything that I should be aware of when I move over? I already checked out the Single Table SNG structure on Stars and it is the main reason why I am moving.

Thanks in advance for any tippage you can give.

I like the Stars sngs. The blinds go up slow enough that it's not an all-in fest with 4+ people left.

I haven't played many sngs on Party, but I'd imagine the play is slightly better/tighter on Stars overall.

I recently made a move to pstars from Party. This is for the $5 SnGs so bigger SnGs may not be the same.

Play on PStars is definitely tighter. You generally don't get the maniacs -who-push-with-KJ-after-two-reraises -on-the-first-hand. In fact the stacks are so deep on PStars that there's almost no point in playing hands until BBs are about $50 or so unless you can double up. Don't get me wrong - I do play before this point but it definitely is easier and more effective to play weak/tight on PS. Bluffing at this point (c-betting a raised flop for instance) is just throwing away chips, whereas you can get away with it a bit more on Party.

Party is kinda neat in the fact that you know how many hands you have left to "catch a hand" if you're short stacked and looking to double up. On party, I've found it possible to build a chip lead and pretty much remain chip leader through.

On PStars I find that by bubble time, BBs are usually quite large ($200 or more) that chipstack swings become moderately dramatic.

I don't know how to explain it VQ. It could be perception as the first 5 or so PS SnGs I did quite poorly. I usually found myself down to about 1000 chips fairly early on and this was a combination of playing a bit looser than necessary and trying to cbet - so I stopped trying.

This is obviously a microscopic sample size, but generally I've found that on PS, Cbetting by making a potsize or near-potsize bet (say 100 chips) when blinds are $20 or $30 generally gets called. This is often true of other bettors whne I'm not involved.

Later on cbetting definitely works, but early on I've found it to be somewhat less effective.

For what its worth my initial feedback (from the 1 tourney I played tonight) is they are tighter but not neccessarily THAT much better. No maniacs though, took a full 20 minutes before someone went out I think.

The only downside is the tournament went on for almost 1 1/2 hours.

    This is the 22's.

So, I took 1st in this one. Well, here's to hoping I continue the good work on Stars.

    Cheers,

From my first 5 SnGs on PS I have the same feeling/experiance. It's all min-bets and min-raises but if you raise higher they're going to call you. I have some serious adjusting to do.
