Well about my 4th month into playing MTTs, dont get to play much with my new work schedule but I played on monday and tonight in the $5 R+A on PP.

Monday I played a good game, 120 paid, PP froze @ 83 people left and well PP paid me $198 which would have been the payout for 10th place so I was happy with that because I was ss'd like hell.

Tonight I played a good game I think also, I had $25 invested into it. 73 people left I get JJ MP with a mini raise in front of me. I call the mini raise, flop comes 2 diamonds, and a rag, ALL under cards. This hand is 3 handed.

First to act bets the minimum which was 4k, I had 45k stack. Second reraises 10k, this guy reraised a lot with NOTHING, so I thought and I pushed. First to act calls, second folds. He flops over AQd. He has a shit load of outs and hits his ace on the turn leaving me with 4xbb and soon to bust in 71st place. Should I have laid this hand down with the reraise?

I am dying for a first place finish and am currently reading HOH and loving it. I feel as if I have learned a lot already but am finally ready to cash in big.

well, if his reraises don't mean much and you trust this read it's fine. Just make sure you're not saying that 'cause you want to call.

No I knew he had 2 over cards and I made the right push against him, he folded. But would you have put the other guy on AQd with the mini bet?

yea im reading that book and it is badass... ive been reading it for about 3 months now though... keep taking breaks from poker (br problems) and so i dont read it all the time, and i have a lot of other books which i need to be reading for school, so its difficult to stay on track with the poker book.

I'm generally re raising here pre flop, but certainly once you call a raise with JJ this late you're going with it if it's an over pair. If not you should push/fold pre flop.

I figured I made the wrong guy by just calling the mini raise with JJ but I wasn't sure on what to do in that situation. I dont think I would have pushed AQd out of the hand if I pushed though.

can you say ditto when you already quoted the answer? ditto.

Raise it preflop to at least 4xBB and then go from there. In this case nothing would have changed - but that doesn't matter.
