    Default Move i witnessed

Ok i was watching a friend and didnt really agree with the play so here it is.

I am in the BB with AQ, SB completes, i raise to 3x.

    Flop comes Ah 5h Jc

    SB checks , i bet 500, SB raises to 1000. I call

    TURN 3d

    SB checks, I check.

    River 2s

    sb bets 500, i call.

    ----------------

    SB shows As 4d

What i didnt agree with is giving the free card on the turn, what do you guys think or do you just check behind on the turn as well

Good play, while the SB beats you more often than not on this hand because of his minimum check raise, you are commited to making a crying call on the river.

Right away before seeing the results I opted to re-raise the flop.

He check raised to make sure you had an ace and to see where he stood (also seeing if you maybe have QQ or KK in which case he's now ahead).

His turn shows he is now questioning his hand... but at the same time opened up more outs (2's and 4's... although 4 may be tainted to him) and he probably would of called a decent sized bet on the turn... and the river gave him his gin card and gave you a crying call

My play on this hand heavily depends on stack sizes.

I would be the turn, 1/2 pot at least

Stack sizes would probably inform my opinion on this. I think the flop and turn play are fine most of the time... check behind on the turn is pretty normal with top pair/second kicker and a check-raise on the flop. SB ended up buying himself a free card for his gutshot draw, but it happens. I don't hate the play too much. I will say one thing though, a lot of times people CR the flop when they flop a flush draw (wasn't the case here) so that being the case, and with two hearts on the flop, I'd be more likely to bet the turn hard than to check behind. Basically, if this was a rainbow flop and the betting went the same way I'd probably check the turn; if this was any two-suited flop (as was the case here) I'd be at least 50% likely to bet hard on the turn, maybe - depending on stack sizes - just push. It's a tricky hand to play correctly.
