    Default first MTT win

Well, after my 20th MTT (I know its not many but I really only play 2 a week) I won my first MTT on pokerroom.com. It was a $5 + 50 freezeout with 640 people and collected around $630. I've hit the final table about 5 times in 20 now when there has been more than 200+ people but before today had never achieved better than 6th. I dont really know why, but I feel more comfortable playing large field MTTs than anything else.

Just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone on this site as your hand histories and explanations have helped my game tremendously. I am playing in my first live tournament at a casino tonight, only a 70 person MTT with a $85 buy-in so hopefully my online play can translate decently into live play.
Goal: Turn original $50 into $1000 by October 31
    Current: $152

Congratulations on the win, Brent. I'm still looking for my first. Very nice percentage on hitting the final table, too. Best of luck in the live Tourney!

The thing I find in MTTs - and I don't know how true this is because of the small sample I've played is that when its close to being ITM (5-10 positions away) many people seem to go into their shells if they are on a short/medium stack hoping to hold on until they are ITM and there are so many opportunities to build your stack and make an assalt at the final table its not funny.

    congrats brent nice work!!

and yes you are right, some tournaments there are people that are obviously trying to get itm. You don't want to over extend yourself too much at this time, but you can definitely pick up a few extra pots here.

Finished 8th last night in the first live table I've played. Blinds were much faster/larger than online so it was a little like turbo which I have had little practice at. Didnt have a good run of cards all night but managed to stick around and make just alittle more than double my entry fee ($85). Collected $192.

I was the short stack on the final table and had KdQd, raised 4x BB and had 2 callers - dominant chip leader (atleast 3x the next highest persons chips) and someone who couldnt even afford the BB at the time. The chip leader was playing very very loose because of his chip size so I didn't put him on anything.

flop came out Jd 10d 6h
I pushed AI (5.5xBB), chip leader called and turned over Ad 4h. 2c 5h knocking me out losing to A high. I think given the same situation I would have done the same every time. Anyone would have played this differently?
