    Default Sattelite Question

When you make the top 15 in a sattelite where they give 15 seats, what happens? Do you continue playing till 1 person is left just for the hell of it?

Depends on site... PokerStars no... PartyPoker yes...etc..

UB you play one more hand, then they stop it. I think it just takes the system a hand to catch up.

Last nite i made such a dumby move regarding this post.

3$ R+A on stars. 371 entrants. Top 16 get seats in sundays 500k grnty(215 T$ i think). I'm 4th out of 34 remaining, with about 110,000 in chips. Blinds are 1500/3000. Avg chip stack for the top 16 is going to be around 118,000 so i'm basically right there, set to cruise into the top 16 without much trouble.

Then i'm dealt AA in middle position. Two limpers, i raise to 6x BB hoping to just take it down there and folds around to the BB (85,000 or so chips) who calls. Flop is 984 rainbow. BB checks, i bet 1/2 the pot, he pushes. I could have folded here and still made the top 16 pretty easily by stealing a few blinds and playing it safe...but i moronically call. He flips 98(wtf?) for the win. Sigh. That was the furthest i've made it in a MTT so far and i blew it after 3 hours of solid playing. Gg me.

Yikes - but yes it generally is one mistake that kills ya. However - his calling with 89 does sorta suck balls.

In a satellite I just push AI pre-flop with AA if I have a large amount of chips like you did. At this point you just have to win the blinds/antes every so often and it's not worth putting yourself in situations where you have decisions. Especially with two limpers, this is an easy push IMO.

I do the same unless I think my chances of winning a seat go up way more if I double my stack. Example: you are in 15th out of 40 when 20 places pay. I would be more inclined to make a callable raise hoping for action and a double since you likely wont get a better chance.
