if a table is passive and weak, consistently folds to min raises, whats the reason to open raise a larger ammount?

A large proportion of MTT guys just raise 2.5x when the blinds are relatively small. Saves you chips and looks about the same. The idea of pot odds doesnt really apply if you have crap like K5 and a guy from MP raises 2x with blinds 1k/2k. He might have you easily dominated and pot odds turn to implied odds. No bueno. Raising 2x occasinally is situational but it might look like you are really rooting for a call/raise with AA/KK.. | |

it depends on your table. if eveyrone folds to min-raise, then a min-raise is all that's needed. i however rarely fold to these if i have any sort of decent holding. i know a lot of players that don't fold to minraises as well... |

Miniraise doesn't show a lot of strength, but a good player will be on the lookout for a trap with a miniraise. When the blinds are starting to get up there, just doubling the blinds can put enormous pressure on the BB to fold, but at the lower levels, feel free to use the double if it works for you table, but most players won't be very intimidated by the move. |
