Default UB $5.50--another stop n go for discussion

Due to the stack sizes I thought a stop n go might work here, because I wouldn't be risking but about half my stack. I had planned to do it before I caught top pair on the flop. The villain got short stacked by raising a lot of hands early on. Reason I posted this is b/c this was my first time trying this play. Was this a good time? What would be better here?

why do you want to do a stop n go? the stack sizes are too deep to even try them. it's usually a better idea to wait and do them when the blinds are bigger and winning the pot is actually important; here it isn't.

This is not a good use of the stop n go. In fact, I would not even consider this a stop n go. This is just a mistake. Sorry to be so harsh, but that's what it is.

When I get a chance, I'll write a seperate post about the stop n go.

Regarding this hand. Here's what I see:
Preflop. Hero has a very beautiful stack, no need to take any risks at this stage. KTo is a trap hand. No reason to be in this hand because the pot is raised. Furthermore, we are out of position. So many reasons to fold, so few reasons to call.

Reads: MP1 is a shorty. What kinds of hands do shorty's min-raise with? Why is shorty a shorty? These guys can be dangerous at this stage of the game.

Flop: At this stage, you need to check. You have top pair, great. You aren't folding, but you now need to induce a bluff. Most times, by leading out here, you're only getting hands to fold that you are beating. So, a check-raise is the prudent move here. You need to accumulate chips to offset the times that you make a mistake, so that you make this play a long term +CEV move. I mean, you don't want a hand like TT to fold here on the flop. And you aren't getting a hand like AK/KQ to fold. So, you need to get the chips from the TTs and the KQs into the pot.

Thanks. Like I say, this was my first time trying a stop n go. I really wasn't too sure how to go about it. I see what you mean here about the stacks. Duly noted. 'Preciate the help...BTW, do not hesitate to be harsh when responding to any HH I post. I really respect both of you guys' opinions quite a bit. Bitch slap me if necessary...

A stop and go is when you are the short stack in the situation. Here you are not, therefore your play was not a stop and go.

The point of the stop and go is to try and rep any flop so that the bigger stack will fold and you will gain some chips with any two cards.
