What is this play called?
One of my more profitable plays in the ITM period is to rep a slowplay against an aggressive tricky player playing blind defence. For this play there are a few general requirements.
1: Pick the right player to do this against. The right people are those who play pretty tight, but also indulge in blind stealing, blind defending, and some bluffing.
2: The player should have position on you.
3: The best time to do it is a while after you have folded a blind steal or bluff against this player, not straight away, but while it is still in their memory. You want to have a solid image with them, but also make them feel like you do try to steal a bit. It helps to have showed down a strong hand on the table recently too.
4: The player should have a similar stack size you you, but preferably a little bit lower. Sometimes you can do it against bigger stacks, but never against short stacks.
So the hand is folded around to you. You do your standard raise. The other player raises back at you, or calls. You call. The flop comes down. You check. They bet out (usualy weakly). You call. The turn comes. You check, they bet more strongly, you raise significantly but not too much(an AI push can triger the 'he must be bluffing' button), they fold, you take down a very hand pot.
Does this play work at the better tournaments (I've only played the $1 so far), and does it have a name?
