    Default What book!

Was wondering what books to read in which order.
(Currently reading "Harrington on Hold'em", VOL1+2 almost finished with both books)

So whats next?! In what order. If you have another book I should tac on feel free to post it.

    Super System
    Theory of Poker
Small stakes HOldem' for advanced players

By the way- I read forum guidlines and was unsure whether this post belonged in "Tools of poker" or "Sng forum" since it pertains to both. Feel free to send me a private message if I have made any mistake.

All are good... I'd say Theory would have the most use though.

What is Small Stakes Hold'em For Advanced Players? Not familiar with that book. Do you mean Small Stakes Hold'em by Ed Miller?

FWIW, if you're playing SNGs, I don't think you'll get much use out of Theory of Poker, let alone, it is so much like a text book, it's pretty much a boring read. Furthermore, if you intend to read that book, it's pretty common now to read Ed Miller's book first.

Anyhow, for tournaments, I think that Tournament Poker for Advanced Players is pretty good. I'm sure Super System is good, but my understanding only about 1/8th of the book is of any interest to read (never read).

I have a love affair with Ed Miller's book, but it's a limit book. If you read that book two times or more, you'll know more about poker than you could have learned playing SNGs.

Only buy Super System if you are interested in playing medium to high stakes ring games (and even then I don't think its that great).

Get TOP and Tournament Poker for Advanced Players.

As far as Texas Hold 'Em goes, Super System speaks most directly to medium to high stakes ring games... but I also believe it's has fantastic coverage of many other games, whereas most books focus purely on Hold 'Em... I don't know exactly why, but after reading the 5-card draw section I REALLY wanted to sit down and play a game. I understand reading about the specifics of these different games won't help (and may in some cases hurt) certain aspects of your game, but I really appeciate seeing the same "poker themes" come up over and over again... Really helped me understand that much of what I practice in my Hold 'Em SnGs has its roots in fundamental ideas about aggression and value that prevade all of poker and games in general...
So you click their picture and then you get their money?

I should add, there is no good book to read about with regard to SNGs. The best read is to read the 2+2 archives. Do searches for Bozeman. Read everything this guy ever posted. From the posts that he is in, you can branch out from some of the other posters during his time. IMO, Bozeman developed the 2+2 strategy that pervades the best strategy in lower buyin SNGs.

Yes sorry I should have stated that I was talking about Hold'em in particular.

I dont find any matches when putting "Bozeman" into the username search field in the search page. I only find a couple of links mentioning Bozeman, when I put his name into the keyword search field, but no threads by the man himself.

That's probably because you're using the main search page instead of searching the archives. Bozeman hasn't posted in awhile as far as I know.

Ok, so where do I go to search the archives? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question, but I just cant seem to find anything written by him.

The archives is a link in the tree on the left column, just like all the different forums. It's near the bottom.
