Default post your runner runner story

I'm usually not much of a chaser, but this table was passive and I felt I had good implied odds (with the ace on the flop) so I called the flop bet to see if I could catch a draw. The turn gave me a gutshot, and on the river I filled in and made the nut straight. Trip aces didn't know what hit him lol.
If you have any good runner runner stories, go ahead and post them here.

EagerEarl sure wasn't too eager to raise his aces from the SB after four limpers...

I really hope I don't see anymore runner, runner posts, especially coming from the High Stakes forum.

    This hand is horrific.

You are only going to make a runner runner strait by the river ~4% of the time here. And out of that 4%, probably 1% is going to make someone else a bigger strait. You are gonna need implied odds on the order of 400$ more to call the flop bet, 600$ more to call the river bet. You figured you had these kind of odds just because there was an ace on the flop? People generally pay off 100+ big blinds with top pair at 3/6 NL? ok.

Thanks for catching that Chris. Fixed.
I don't see anything "horrific" about the calls, PokerPatNEU.You sound like a limit player who thinks he knows how to play NL when in fact does not. On the flop, I called $10 bet into a $30 pot from the button, expecting several check-callers. A 4 or a 9 would have given me a gutshot, and a 6 or a J would have given me an outside draw. In my mind those 16 "outs" was more than enough given the implied odds. On the turn I'm calling a $15 bet into a $70 pot to catch my gutshot, but with the 2 check-callers I'm getting 11.5% pot odds, more than enough given that the 9 gets there 8.5% of the time to give me the stone cold nuts.
And what is this talk of " implied odds of 600$ more to call the river bet"? Never knew you had implied odds when all the cards were out. Here's the definition of implied odds in case you didn't know what it meant.
implied odds- the odds you are getting after the assumed result of betting for the remainder of the hand

I think it is clear from the context that PokerPatNEU meant "turn bet".
I also think that your play is bad. Calling the weak turn bet once you're there is OK, but the flop call is a losing play. Any player with two neurons and a working synaps who has a hand that could pay you off is going to hammer the turn. If he does then even if you hit your "outs" (sic) you have no odds (pot or implied) to call, so the bet you called on the flop would be a complete loss. In short, against an opponent who has any sort of clue, or doesn't have a clue but just happens to feel like betting the pot on the turn, the EV of calling the $10 flop bet is -$10.
I do believe that back-door draws are worth more than the plain odds for hitting them suggest because of the implied odds. If I'm facing a marginal flop decision with say a gutshot draw or a low pair then having a backdoor flush draw can tip the scales in favour of calling. But playing a back-door draw alone is a waste of chips.

lol i dont see how u think u have odds to call the flop. why ever fold if you just rely on backdoor draws honestly? u might hit running trips

well that guy actually has a hand, and gets an open ender by the turn, there is way more reason for this guy to play this way.PO$$E$$ED play was pretty weird calling on the flop with absolutly nothing, the turn couldnt even bring him an open ended draw or anything.
