    Default not aggressive enough?

This is the first hand of an SNG at Paradise. Personally, I don't know how the flush draw stays in considering pot odds, but I am fairly new to this and would appreciate any advice. Was I not aggressive enough? Did I simply play this badly?

For the record, I am greatly enjoying reading the posts and advice here. This is my first posting.

I would have played it the same way, but I'm still a noob. The fish will play anything and will always call on a draw. In this case, he got his flush.

only problem in my opinion is it's so early in the tourney.

if you're playing a 5 - 20 dollar tourney, you've gotta be ready for someone to play like an idiot.

In your position I would probably fold that and see how the table is played on the first couple of hands

after all, J9 isn't that great in mp2

The thing with tournaments is that its a race to be ITM position and calling J9 suited in MP is something that should be avoided. Given the fact that the pot has been reraised also. Maniacs with call any raises with any draws because they don't understand the real concept of the game. Wait until you got a big hand then raise big. Hopefully you'll get some of those low stacks to bring all their chips in.

It was a $10-1 SNG. At least I got some satisfaction in knowing that the one who was tripled up first hand didn't end up in the money when all was said and done. I appreciate the advice of not even calling due to the early stage. Thank you. What are the minimum pocket cards you would wait for before getting involved?

All the money went in when you had the best hand.. I don't really see anything wrong with this play. I might raise it a little harder on the flop when there was already a bet and a call in front of you in which case you'd be punching the rest in on the turn regaurdless. If you avoid a K, T, 2, or heart on the river you triple up. Seems like a good deal to me.

I think that calling a raise with J9s in early MP is somewhat a weak play. But you made it and you caught two pair. With the flush draw on the board I'm all in. Make them play for all of their chips when you have the best hand.

If eveyone limped preflop, I wouldn't have fought for the chips because there wouldn't have been a lot to fight for. Once the pot gets big and you have the best hand at the moment you can't give it up. IMO.

I would have went all in on the flop. Your hand is pretty hidden and theres a possible flush draw on the board, perhaps even a straight draw. You have the best hand on the flop, you want those draws to fold. Because there were so many in the pot, the Axs had the odds. The QQ was going to call no matter what.

    Fold PF to the Raise.

Since you called, AI on the Flop with the scary draw and your hidden hand.

Lose to the fish who call this at the 10+1 level 1 out of 2 times...
