Default Bigger pre flop raise here?

I went 2x bb (they were pretty high). Reason for only 2x was I was in an early position, and had read on the Pros Tips. In early position make a smaller raise cause there maybe re raisers. If the re raise is real big. You can drop the hand easier, without losing much. Was it my small raise that is most likely the reason I lost? Or did I make my mistake in other places, or was there nothing I could have done differently? I see now after the fact that i could have went 4x bb with only 1 caller, but I didnt know that at the time. Then mb the caller would have folded. Or he could have called anyway thinking his A-rag was good. I know I wouldnt call a 400$ raise with A- rag out of position. He didnt re raise preflop like AQ or AK prob would have. He just called the flop bet, so I didnt think he had a set. Thats why the all in bet on the Turn. Let me know what you think.

Ed has 17.5 BB in this instance, though.

I'd go with a raise to 2.5xBB, which is generally my standard for this stage in a tourney and that stack. I raise 2.5xBB because you save chips for the times you have to fold to a big reraise, and it really does have the same impact as a 3xBB raise.

a set wouldnt always reraise on the flop either.

The reason I don't like minraises is exactly because of hands like this. You are giving him (as the BB) 4 to 1 odds. So he should be calling with any two cards - especially given your stacks.

If I was youbet I woulda just pushed you all-in on that flop, but other than that the hand just played itself out.
