Default Heads-up play with deeper stacks

I've recently started playing 2- and 3-table SnG's. When these tournaments get heads-up, stack sizes tend to be around 20 BB, and since I'm used to playing push-or-fold poker heads-up, I tend to get stomped. Does anyone have any general words of wisdom for playing heads-up poker with a deeper stack?

As an example, there seem to be a whole lot of hands like this: I've got Q4o on the button and call, BB checks. Flop is K83 rainbow, BB checks. How often should I bet here? I realize it depends on many factors -- reads, playing style, table image, etc., but any pointers would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    - Nate

well you said it perfectly, reads, style, table image... It also depends on your style of play and ur table image, if u come across as laggy then he is more likely to call with ace high or even lower pairs ect... If your extremely tight you can prolly take down some of these easier... Also is he known to check best hand in this situation how does ur opponent play... If he is tight well you can take a majority of these down and he calls or reraises just know ur polly beat and dont keep feedin the pot just check or get out... dont try and push harder unless u just put him on high cards ect...

Thats honestly the best advice i can give you from what you have provided

Mostly out of curiosity, say you were playing against a copy of yourself. About what fraction of the time would you bet here?

I myself am very aggressive later on in the tournaments especially heads up so I would be eager to try and take these pots down... but Im playing against myself so i know my opponent is aggressive therfore I by him checking he could have easily hit mid pair, There is a lot that could happen in situations like these its really based on how you feel about ur opponent and take a stab dont take a big stab that it hurts, but make him know u have a hand represent somethin strong? Thats the best advice i can give you on this, I am still new to the stars sng's so im still finding things about my game i need to improve ect...

Mix up your play. Check monsters and bet garbage, then do the opposite a little later. Keep your opponent off guard and he'll do something stupid sooner or later.

I bet about 70% of hands HU if I'm first to act. If my opponent checks to me, that will increase a bit. I'd probably bet this 80% of the time.
