    Default Lay Down a Straight Here?

    This was a tricky hand from earlier. I wasn't sure whether to lay it down or not. I'd normally never lay down a straight, but I didn't have the nut straight, and two people just went all-in in front of me:

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (7 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    Silverfist (t1910)
    UTG (t3040)
    MP1 (t1595)
    MP2 (t1950)
    CO (t6515)
    Button (t2385)
    SB (t1045)

    Preflop: Silverfist is BB with 6, T.
    3 folds, CO calls t100, Button calls t100, 1 fold, Silverfist checks.

    Flop: (t350) 8, 9, 7 (3 players)
    Silverfist bets t175, CO raises to t2400, Button calls t2285 (All-In), Silverfist ???

    I definitely move in here. If you're beat then so be it, but I can't see any reason to lay this down. They most likely have two pair or a set.

    I'm a lot more worried about the caller than I am of the guy who initially pushed. Would he do that with JT? No. All we saw was the other guy limp in pre-flop and called the raise-reraise all in. JT is definitely a somewhat likely hand for him to have limped in with, but even with all that said. I'll pay TJ off all day.

    I call. One hand beats you... don't lose sleep over it.

    seems like a bunch of calling stations in the forum.

    sure, only 1 hand beats him, but that hand is very likely. also, if one if them always has the set or the straight, he is very far behind.

    Board: 9c 8d 7h
    Dead:

    equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
    Hand 1: 31.3636 % 27.19% 04.18% { Ts6h }
    Hand 2: 68.6364 % 64.46% 04.18% { 99-77, JTs, JTo }

    wouldn't any of you add on hands like 9T (i.e. a pair plus the draw) here? I have seen hands like this make this move on the $11s lately.

    yeah I agree this is very likely...in their minds having top pair plus a draw is unbeatable! lol..

    There is a myriad of other hands that could be pushing here beyond 99-77, JT. As someone mentioned earlier, top pair or even a pair with the straight draw could get overly excited. Top pair with no draw could do the same. So could a pair higher than 99. Two pair could act this way.

    So I think the range looks more like this: 77-AA, JTs, JTo, 98-96s, 98-96o, T9-A9s, T9-A9o, T8-T7o, T8-T7s

    To fold the second best possible hand in this situation with so many possible worse hands is a bad play in my opinion.
